Just tape the roof around the antenna to avoid scratching and use the blade to cut through the rubber. Hold the blade under sharp angle. It took me less than 10 min to take it off with no scratches.

Great question

I am, however, curious, as to how one can reattach the antenna without making globs of adhesive visible. Is there a replaceable gasket/seal or does one need to use a messy liquid? |

Yup, curious
Removing the antenna is not something I'd do (don't really see a need), yet am curious as to how it would be reattached. Always good to pick up knowledge as one never knows what may come in handy. For example, I recently watched a "how to disassemble an F30 door" video dealing with new speakers. I don't intend to install new speakers, but would like to know how the door comes apart.

Can someone suggest the adhesive to use to glue the fin back on once removed? Looking at having it wrapped, but worried that the wrong adhesive will let water in and cause issues (as others have reported). Any P/N would be greatly appreciated! I'm in Canada -- hoping whatever it is will be available here

Sorry to revive a slightly old thread but I thought I'd update this with a short video regarding the Shark Fin install from factory. It appears that it is installed by hand on the floor after the antenna has been fastened. Skip forward to timing point of approximately 1:40 and you will see.

2 questions: 1- What damage could possibly have been caused at this point with water presumably accumulating inside the roof living? And what should I do at this point to ensure nothing bad happened? 2- Not sure what adhesive the guy used for my car, but obviously it wasn't good enough. What do you guys recommend putting to seal up the shark fin properly/permanently? |
