If your shoes are wet, those little bumps will help hold your foot in place so it doesn't slip around on the pedal.

Different pedals can keep your foot from slipping, otherwise it is purely looks.
If someone finds a pedal that adds another 50 horsepower without any other mods, I'll eat my runflats. |
