What does "Sport" do to the exhaust?

I've noticed that when I'm driving in Sport mode, I get a wonderful burble when lifting the throttle. I don't hear it when in Comfort mode. I have the M Performance exhaust, but I suspect that's not the difference.

I have a manual transmission.

Sport mode does exactly what you're saying -- it allows for some off-throttle exhaust burble. This is more noticeable with the M performance exhaust, although it's present regardless (for all 335s that is). If you're asking how exactly it does that, I'm not sure.
