Do you have the name of your vessel? You can get this from your CA.

Seriously my CA doesn't do anything for me. He just sold the car really cheap to me and doesn't give me any information. I don't even want to ask him. LOL I assume it will take another 6~7 week. (It is currently my 9th week)

Thank you anyway!

Not showing up when I track the VIN on W&W. The Bess is loading in Port Elizabeth today - hope I am on that one! The other possibility is MOL Shipping which limits the VIN tracking function to customers. I really hope it gets on a ship soon -- my car has been sitting for 4 weeks in the port. I was originally told by my CA it would be here in Houston week of May 21 when I ordered back in March!

I am really disappointed with this ordering process -- I got my last BMW, a 2008 e90 M3, when I assumed a lease through Swapalease - that process was much easier than this and I had the car in one week.

Right now I am trying to get my CA to get me a loaner because I need a car - I've been driving my son's pickup while I wait for this car but he is out of school now and just got a job and needs his truck. So he might be reduced to taking the bus to work because %^&# BMW is 3 months late getting my car to me -- and that's if it gets on the ship today and it doesn't sit another several weeks in port.

Production Finaly Started on my 335i!

So almost a month after I first received the production number, and a full 2 months after I placed the order my 335i Sport Line has finally entered production in Germany!. My CA says I should have it in July.

April 19 - Order Placed
May 18 - Production number received
June 16 - Production started in Germany (code 150)

FINALLY on a ship!

Updated Timeline:
March 21: ordered
April 23: Production Number & VIN Recieved
May 18: Production Completed
June 17: On GENUINE ACE bound for Port Brunswick, GA

Scheduled to arrive Port Brunswick, Georgia July 21, then clear customs and transport to dealer in Houston, TX

Expected total time: 19 weeks from order date, 15 weeks from Production Assigned date.

Of course, if it had gotten on the BESS on June 14 then it could transfer to the ASIAN KING in Zeebrugge and be in Galveston on July 18 and at my dealer a week or two earlier!

Is it on the order screen? If I can get that information I can take it to my CA.
As I said, I didn't see it on the order screen, and CA and sales manager both said they can't specify that.
But, if it's really doable and an option I want to know how it's done so we can take a look. I too would like a German built German car.
BUMB.

No work on this?
I don't think it's possible. BMW assigns production, but I'd like to see if CA can alter that.

I'll update as more data becomes available.

Glad to report that I finally received a VIN# and confirmation of production code 150. This is week 12.

My apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.
My car finally started production and I went to the BMWUSA.com website today to check. Sure enough, it shows as being in production now, but two of the options I ordered are not listed (everything else appears to be). Namely, the 19" wheels and the M Adaptive Suspension are both missing from the list.

Is it normal for these two options not to show or do I have an issue? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-FD

I'm currently in production and BMWUSA also does not show my Adaptive M Suspension option. My Vehicle Inquiry Report from the dealer does show it however. BMWUSA is infamous for having missing or wrong info. As long as your VIR is correct, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks Drjake007. That was my hope. I'll confirm with my CA and the VIR.

Update (though not much of one):

4/21: Placed order for 2012 335i
6/16: Updated order for a 2013 as dealership still had not received a 335i allocation (despite getting 3 for 2013 335i xdrives)
6/30: CA emailed that the dealership still has not received an allocation for a 335i, but would be trading for one within the next few days.

Hopefully I'll have a production number soon. My CA has been surprised by the lack of allocations and the fact that he only saw around 20 in the northeast region.

Waiting won't be so bad once I know that I will have a car produced for me.

Well, after 10 weeks, my vehicle is at Bremerhaven waiting for a vessel to the West Coast. The Figaro rolled in this morning (the ship on the right) and I'm hoping to be on it; otherwise I'll have to wait another 2 weeks for the Tomar. Anyone else on (or hoping to be on) the Figaro?

Yeah, the most important thing in an order is to have an actual allocation.
That is the ONLY way to actually put in an order with BMW.
Just having an order in with the dealer doesn't really mean much if they don't have an allocation.

Sucks that you still don't have an allocation. I would push them to get one asap.
Have you called any other BMW dealers in your area and asked if they have an allocation?
If another does, then force the issue, and let you dealer know you could take your business elsewhere.

My CA said he would be trading for one and it should take a few days. I was going to press the issue, but he beat me to it. Now if I still don't have one by next weekend, I'll have to start shopping around...

I think boats got tied up in Argentina in May - they passed a severe import tax and boats were unable to unload and now no more deliveries to Argentina:

WWL Suspends Service to Argentina
2012-05-21
Severe congestion at the port of Zarate causes WWL to suspend service to Argentina.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics has suspended service to Argentina due to severe congestion at the port of Zarate. Congestion at the port has increasingly worsened in the past several weeks as there have been extended pauses in vehicle processing during government holidays as well as Customs' prohibition of vehicle imports while it examines tax policies related to automotive imports.

At the moment, vehicle processing is at a standstill and inbound lots are excessively congested. The situation is currently in discussion amongst the car manufacturing association and Secretary of Commerce, but there is no clear end in sight.

In order to avoid further disruptions to WWL's service in South America, we have suspend calls to Zarate for the time being until there is a resolution to the situation at the port. The Customer Care team is informing affected customers to make arrangements to discharge Zarate-bound cargo on Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics operated ships at an alternate port as well as other customers impacted by the service change.

The terminal situation in Brazil is also affected, as most Brazilian ports are overflowing with export units bound for Argentina. As a result, Brazilian ports are issuing restrictions on advance delivery of export cargo bound for Argentina as well as other destinations.

If you have any queries concerning this matter, contact Customer Care on telephone nr +1 201 505 4000.
