Msport steering wheel conversion airbag issue
My car has recently received all its maintenance and repairs after a long journey of issues and a whole new motor.
One of the things I did before was convert my steering wheel to msport. I obv had to buy the different circular airbag. I went with an oem one on eBay. However when it was installed with the steering wheel, it throws the airbag code. I’ve put that on the back burner cuz I was dealing with sm shit with the car already. If anyone has a fix lmk. My mechanic suspected it might be a euro spec or another country airbag and it didn’t connect properly. If not does anyone know where I can source one for a good price? |

It could be that it is a single stage, not dual. If that’s the case it’s possible to code via Bimmercode expert mode if I’m not mistaken

It'll throw an airbag code if it's a single stage airbag. I've never heard of coding out the error with bimmercode, I would advise just buying a dual stage one. Watch out for the recalled Takata airbags as well.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1937415 Still pros and cons tho, read thru that thread Single stage and dual stage airbags are just based on where the car was manufactured. Canada and USA have dual stage airbags that comply with the various regulations that we have in place here. Europe has different laws so they have a different airbag I believe. You can see the difference on the back, single stage airbags don't have the blue connector that dual stage ones do. |

There are actually 3 different airbag types.
Single Stage Dual Stage Dual Stage w/vent (this is what US cars expect) I can remotely code the airbag for you if you have a windows laptop w/ethernet port, and ethernet to OBD2 cable.
