MotorKote. Based on what I was able to gather, oil additives are controversial. Some swear by them...some call them snake oil. So let's keep it civil.

I would normally be interested only in fuel additives (to clean injectors, remove water, etc). But a test done a while back by a well-respected unpaid hobby guy (see video link below) that reems to prove that this additive works as claimed.

However, there are some concerns about harmful corrosive reactions on the long run, and supposedly independent lab tests show that it contains chlorine (chlorinated paraffins) in amounts that normally may turn into acid later. Here is the lab test: https://thebestsyntheticoil.com/pdf/...treatments.pdf

A comment from another forum sums it up well: "Due to the corrosive nature of chlorinated paraffin byproducts they serve absolutely no purpose in any motor oil. You may see a short period of increased gas mileage due to reduced friction, but the hydrochloric acid formed from combustion would wreck havoc inside the engine."

What say you? If not MotorKote...any other recommendations? Or just stay with this sound advice: just use spec-ed oil only and change it regularly.

Additives are widely pointless under normal conditions and, at best, void your warranty.

Even dealership gravy money like BG products.

Amsoil is MLM nonsense.

Are Paraffins a no no for engines? I assume as it can be used as a combustible product, you don't want that in the lubrication system?

My understanding is that they added paraffins in there to allow the additive to withstand high temperatures. However, as it breaks down and reacts with hydrogen in water vapors, it forms hydrochlorine which is corrosive to metal, especially aluminum.
