Smile BMW Individual Colours - Specifically Moonstone F30 3 Series

Has any-one out there ordered an Individual Colour? (And if so what - and with which specification)
Has any-one ordered (and/or recieved) a Moonstone F30?

I ordered my 328i in Moonstone Metallic 2 months ago, and heard today that it is going to be built this week. Delivery is estimated at:

1) By BMW computer - End January
2) By Dealer - End February
3) By my lowest expectations - End March

Its going to be a long wait until she arrives....................

Congrats for your choice !
I saw moonstone on other bmw cars but not on the f30 so far!
Would you mind posting some pics at different angles of your car as soon as you get it. That way you will help me choosing or not moonstone for my planned f31.
Thanks in advance.

I have Tanzanite Blue in the Lux line; a little darker than the BMW website suggests but lots going on close up. Looks different in low light conditions/sunlight so two colours for the price of one (ok...so it's not THAT different). Moonstone was my other choice so please post pics - never seen one!

I understand you're in Australia, but can you get Le Mans Blue in the Individual Colors program?

No, Le Mans Blue is not one of the standard F30 Individual colours.

Moonstone was my 2nd choice, just couldn't justify the extra £££ to myself when I ordered. Really looking forward to seeing some pics (so I can feel jealous!)

What is the US cost of individual colors? What about the other individual options for F30?

Well - just had a call from the Dealer - the car has cleared customs - and they are talking about delivery this weekend.
It's been so long I have forgotten what it comes with. (only joking)

Time to line up the detailer for a few coats of Hardbody!!!

I think $5,000 for paint, $3-5,000 for interior color.

I could be wrong.

Speak to Morrie from Reflection-Perfection for HB application. 2 coats is all that's needed & recommended by Wolf's Chemicals. Best nano sealant on the market today. You will be suitably impressed with it's super water beading & sheeting capabilities. After yesterday's and today's rainfalls, the water just slipped of the car after driving it when the rain stopped.

I compliment it with Meg's Ultimate Quik Detailer after my 2 bucket wash, for that extra bit of…..(you fill in whichever word or words come to mind).

Cheers

Thanks for that. I was wondering what to use to wash the car after Hard Body application, and whether it was worthwhile using some sort of Nano Quick detailer to attempt to maintain the hardbodys condition?
Any reason you chose your quick detailer and not something from Wolf's?
Actually I am using Morrie to put it on - he is booked to come out March 10th.

There are so many detailing sprays on the market today, many of them very good. It is very convenient for me to pop into Autobarn close to home and buy Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer spray in black plastic spray bottle.

Meguiar's had a very good reputation with professional detailers and I must agree. I have a number of their products and they do the job as advertised.

UQD works very well on my car, as I'm sure Wolf's "Quickie" detailer would do.
I have a supply of UQD on hand (Autobarn had a Meguiar's sale recently), so perhaps after I finish with them, I might try Quickie if Car Care Products, which has a Melbourne outlet just a couple of kms away from my home, sells it.

Also, be aware Meguiar's have a standard Quick Detailer in a red spray bottle, which I use as lubricant for claying. It is not as good a detailer as UQD.

Maybe someone else can chime in with their quick detailer spray experiences.

Talking Wolfs hardbody, Morrie is applying it as I type this

Well the car has finally arrived. Even the dealership has been impressed with the way the colour and interior combinations turned out. The sycamore trim was a bit of a guess, as the dealer did not have any samples, but it has matched nicely with the brown piping in the seats. And the door trims are better than the configurator seemed to show.

Moonstone is a special colour. Once the hardbody had been applied I will post some pictures of the exterior and interior.

The detailers impression is that BMW did a good job in preparing the car for delivery, ok it only have 30km on it at the moment. He says the car is as clean as he has seen.

Looking forward to the shiny look that is Hardbody........

Pardon my ignorance but from the pic I don't see any difference between the moonstone and the regular silver.. What sets them two colors apart?

I have seen the moonstone, and there is a big difference to silver imo, its a very weird color, one that I have not seen before but very very nice. Nice choice going with Hard Body.

Yes you are correct - I guess in that light it looks silver. Placed next to another silver BMW the Moonstone is not as bright and sharp.

Also in softer light there is sometimes a blue undertone, and a pearl look to it.
Funny thing is another friend of mine (not a car person) - took one look at it and said - " hey its moonstone" - because she has a moonstone ring - which has the same look about it.

I will take a photo of our old 1-series with the new 3 series next to it - good idea. (One series is in Titan Silver)

I tried to Google moonstone trying to find contrast between regular silver, it seems the moonstone has a touch of beige on it? I can't really tell from the pics. I guess I need to see the two paints in person to compare.. seems like an awesome color from all the replies...

Moonstone has a minerally quality to it, with much more depth than a regular silver color.
