I don't get the point of this. Sure--years ago when the nav screen only showed navigation, you can pop it down when you are not using it. But now, every function is controlled thru the screen--it's never down except when the car is off. I personally don't want to risk having the retractor motor malfunction--especially in the down position.

That's the flash, I took the pic in my garage. Note that the dash reflects as well. The textured ABS is almost indistinquishable from the dash. Most of those who've been in my car thought it was OEM, and those who drive bimmers asked if it was a dealer or third party accessory. Having the radar there not only eliminates dangling wires but it also puts it within easy reach. The radar and transponder are attached with velcro so they can be easily pulled and stored. I realized the need for it the day I took delivery in January, when the low level of the sun in the sky caused so much glare on the screen that I could barely make out the display. The shield is attached to the screen with double-sided tape, so it can be removed should the next owner want to.

I'm fine with either one but prefer it to sit higher closer to eye level but it isn't a deal breaker if its embedded in the dash...so long it's towards the top of the dash.
Just don't make them motorized. God I hate those, serves no useful purpose and if a motor ever went out in one I'd go mad staring at a screen that's partially open. |

Trust this is a minority opinion but I preferred the Bangle dual canopy set up. Display was set in the proper position and the canopy shielded bright light. Our Z4 has the pop up and in sunlight.... it's useless!

Considering that the vast majority of the time, I don't actually use the screen for anything, I would prefer if it could go down when I want it to. However, it's not that big of a deal for it to stay up. I just leave it on the nav screen for situational awareness.
Regardless of whether it raises or is static, I would prefer above the dash line so that my triangle of focus (road, gauges, screen) is as small as possible. |

Looks good in the F30, F15, G12, etc. I don't like the "double hump" or even the way it is in the 5er. With the screen higher, the dash line can be lower, lending to a more open feel in the cabin.

I like it exactly at it is. I don't want it to look like a bolted on tablet.
I don't want it to hide away. Don't understand that at all it looks lovely and def don't want it in an e90 style carbuncle. |

Personally I liked the aesthetics and function of the E9x integrated display the most. Fluid lines that served a functional purpose (keeping light out/to a minimum) and a nicely integrated unit.
The newer design, let's call it 'iPad style', I could do without. Just added an F30 to the fleet and honestly that's the biggest eyesore for me on an otherwise very nice interior. It looks disjointed and glued into place as if it were aftermarket. I need to get used to the forum layout on F30post, so used to E90post
