Well, my car is a week old. Somebody stole my plastic cover already.
Dealer will begrudgingly replace and paint it. All kinds of people out there.
My initial reaction was that it 'fell' off but service adviser said 'people are stealing them because they don't want to pay $28 to replace them.

i really doubt anyone that owns a $50k car , would go around and steal a $30 part

my dealer pulled them off there loaner cars.. mine almost fell off from a car wash once. i am going to super glue mine in..i figure if i wreck it to be towed prying the cover off and damaging the bumper wont matter to me at that point.

I plan on taking it off and use the tow hook license plate bracket. Hope people won't steal my plate and bracket then.

there are other reasons to tow a car besides a wreck.

This is my first BMW, but I was told by the dealer that prior to the F30, the covers did not have the little dangly thingy (plastic thing that keeps it connected to the vehicle if it comes loose). That tells me that they must have had complaints of theft/loss. Could it have come loose and come off and you not noticed it? Just thinking aloud...

you're joking right??? some people like taking things no matter how much money they have , just to piss you off.There's a family friend who has millions and I know for a fact if there was loose change in my car he'd take it.
