This should be no surprise. 7-year product cycle. Sedan will be out in 2012 as a 2013 model, coupe about a year later...

Very disappointed that the brake lights are incandescent bulbs and not LED. Why does the current generation coupe get them but the next generation sedan doesn't?

Wait for the f3x LCI. History repeats itself.

they always do this.... think about it...The E46 3 series (M3 included) received LED tails in 2004 and 2005 (this was the LCI E46). But when the E90/E92 came out in 2006/2007, it didn't have LED tails. But now it does...for the LCI model.

The F10 5 series also doesn't have LED tails right now, but I will promise you that the LCI in 2-3 years will 100% receive LED tails.

Seems like the F10 and LCI 1-series uses LED "light tubes" for the rear, but the brake lights are still bulb.

BMW always holds back on LED treatment for the first version of a new body style - they use the LED lights to charge premiums and make people want to upgrade to LCI.

This is in contrast to Audi that always has LEDs and high quality lights and makes more body style changes to their cars for facelift.

Its annoying because you know if you buy the first version of a car you know in a few years the "ultimate version" is coming out

Dude you are just awesome. Thank you for sharing.

About that front end character line, is it really going to separate the lights and the grill? It gives the appearance of a luchador wrestling mask.. besides that, fantastic.

E30 3 Series

E34 5 Series

E32 7 Series

Look quite similar to me. I think people need to relax regarding how close the next generation bimmers look, as it is not unfamiliar in BMW's nature.

Very true and agree with you regarding the E30, E36 and E46, and even though the same is plausible with the E90 in terms of refreshing its image, I find the LCI to be much less attractive than the pre-lci which makes the idea of an "ultimate version" subjective to the consumers' taste.

+1,000,000

This annoyed me going from my '04 E46 to my current '08 E92. Regular, incandescent bulbs are old technology, so for BMW to, once again, outfit the first run of the next gen 3er with regular bulbs is inexcuseable. This is a BMW, not a Chevy.
