Tech Problems
Hey everybody,
I was wondering if anybody was experience tech problems in their cars like their phones constantly cutting out while playing music or while talking on the phone, or answering a call on the car and the call subsequently being dropped. My car randomly disconnects from my phone for no reason. Also, sometimes it shows playlists and other times it doesn't. My car does have tech package and I am on an iPhone 6s with ios 10.2. This is all happening through a Bluetooth connection. Thanks for the help. |

No issues at all with mine but I have a Note 5 running Android Nougat. I use bluetooth to stream often too and never had it cut out.

I've been having random weird crap happening since I had my iPhone 6 swapped due to bad battery. It was at 10.2 when I got it, tried 10.3.2, but it's still doing weird stuff. Sometimes BT won't work with phone and sometimes it will. Other times, I get "Unsupported Accessory" on the phone when I plug it into USB.
It pisses me off because the prior iPhone I had was solid. Worked every time, all the time. I'm finding that turning the phone off and back on again usually makes it work...but then starts it's weirdness a few days later. Grrrr. Thinking it's time to upgrade... |

None here, but I usually connect to the center console via USB (under the armrest) with my iPhone 7.

None here either with my iPHone. delete the BT pairing, update to the latest iOS, do a hard reset of the phone and then re-pair the phone to the car.
If that doesn't work, go one step further by wiping the phone and setting it up as a new device...not from a restored backup.

No problems with mine. Have you Updated the software in your car to the latest firmware? It's easy you use a thumb drive.

Apple is just horrible at changing stuff and breaking integration with 3rd parties and not giving a fuck. Probably need an update to your idrive to cope with new software.

I've got a new iPhone 8 Plus that would disconnect from the USB port once it hits around 90% battery capacity. At first I thought it was an IOS connectivity problem. Since getting the latest version, the interface works just fine. Until the phone reaches 90% charge.
So I got a USB voltage/current measuring device to see what's going on. When the phone is low on charge, there is a healthy 1.0A of current going in and the charging voltage is slightly above 5V. But when it gets close to 90%, the current drawn drops and the voltage climbs to around 5.3V, maybe higher. This is higher than the wall-wart charger (without load, it puts out 5.15V, and stays around 5.05V under load). I suspect the over-voltage trigger on my iPhone is disconnecting itself from the USB for self-preservation. When I iPhone is at 100%, the disconnection/reconnectiong happens repeatedly every two seconds. I can only surmise the USB port is putting out just a bit too much voltage for my iPhone's comfort. All other Apple chargers, including the USB port on my Macs, put out no more than 5.15V with no load, and sag to just below 5V when drawing 1A of current on charge. I'll be getting my SA to look into this when I bring my car in for a service next.

Never had issues with iOS 10.x and don't have any issues with 11.0.2 on my iPhone 6s plus. I only use bt for calls, mainly use the usb port under the arm rest with a third-party lightning cable.

Ever since I got a new phone (Pixel XL 2) I've had BT music connection issues but only with music. My resolution has been using voice control. (press&hold voice, say open pandora, etc.) At least that seems to work about every 7/10 times. When it doesn't, Pandora will stream on my phone with no sound so it is trying to connect but somehow dropping.
