Purchase advice
Hello, long time lurker first time poster. I'm currently looking at a new weekend toy and this will be my 1st M car, super excited. I'm a longtime fan, I've owned 5 BMW including my current daily, G30, and my forever car, E46 ZHP 6spd. I did my research for a fun car that's going to give me power, pleasing to look at, and cost wise. I've narrow down to the following vehicles, and I'd appreciated very much if I can get some advice especially from those that have owned these before.
1. 2018 M4 Gray w/ 75k miles for $40k Competition, Executive 2. 2019 M4 CS w/ 64k for $53k 3. 2014-2016 base 911 for ~60k-65k I love the 911 but I can't afford their GTS and I'm not sure if the base model can beat an M4. I'm leaning towards the CS but is it worth 13k over the competition? for me, I love the F platform looks over the new model. Yes it's almost 10yrs old but I just can't bring myself to paying something I know will never grow on me. This will be a weekend toy. Hoping for some feedback, tysm! |

Get the M4 CS it's more special and has the real OLED tail lights.
I've never owned a 911 but I doubt a base would be fast enough compared to an F82. There's a M4 GTS for sale on the F8x classifieds. Last edited by eff32fl; 04-16-2024 at 07:12 PM.. |

I've owned a 2008 335 and now a 2016 340. Both were well engineered, and virtually repair free.
I also own a 2018 Audi SQ5 which is clearly engineered to generate service revenue. Parts are substandardly engineered to fail, and requires a lot of post warranty repairs (a sentiment that is echo'd through the Audi forums). For clarity, the VAG group tiers are VW -> Audi -> Porcshe -> Lamborghini Unless the 911 is except from the VAG practices of VW+ Audi, you might want to do your homework on what the cost of ownership actually is. I did encounter a clown with a Porsche Panamera GTS who "tried to prove something". A BMW 340 with BM3 stage 2 is a lot faster than that car (for context, while appreciating that the Panamera is a heavier/larger car than the 911). It was clear that the numbers on paper don't really align with real world performance though. |

You might want to post over here: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=470
A few more f82 owners might chime in. Likely they will say CS but you never know |
