She's here. No more putting stuff off

She finally got here, and its not raining for a change. Got a chance to look at it closely, and theres a ton of stuff I gotta do this week. Window tint is number 1. Probably taillight tint also, and I gotta black out the front reflectors. Black grilles. Bought a stock set to paint, but its too cold to paint now, so I also got a flat black set from Taiwan to put on until spring. Gotta swap out the tires before it gets cold again, because summers won't work.

Inside I need to get the silver surrounds for the headlight switch, and get a switch with the rear fogs. Also want to put in the stuff we don't get in the US, that Europe does get, the first aid kit and warning triangle.

Under the hood I'll install my aFe intake this week, and decide where to go from there. Gotta clean off the greasy Armor All mess they put on everything.

And finally, all the halogen bulbs need to be replaced with LEDs. I'll probably put this off for a while, because I have zero desire to start pulling stuff apart at this point.

Sweet ride. Is that where she will live, on that street? I hope no jealous jerks do anything to it.

Thats where she'll live. I doubt anybody will do anything to it. I've parked way more expensive cars here, and they've always been fine. I just gotta watch the bumpers, because people cannot park around here and they're gonna get beat up if I can't find a way to protect them. Thinking about trying the Flexy Frame on the front, but no idea what to do for the back.

Put the flat black grilles on. Not really liking it. Hope it looks better after I color match the stockers.

BTW, aFes air scoop does not fit the GT. It hits the brace in front of the radiator, and theres no hole like on the F30s to hold it in place. Also, the GT has rubber ducting surrounding the grilles, so that has to be moved to get to the clips for grille removal.

Not really thrilled with the wing either. It looks unfinished, because the area under it isn't painted.

Thanks. Guess maybe it just doesn't look right to me because I'm so used to looking at the gloss ones on the 7.

I think gloss black grills will look better.

I like the overall look, but have to agree, the gloss grill will look better. At least, the flat black gives you an idea of what they will look like.

Love your car. Looking good

We picked up a silver 335GT M sport and I'm thinking about the M performance tune MPPK.

I had it on an E90 335 and loved it. Do you feel a reasonable difference? Does it have a good low end grunt.

Thx

I couldn't tell you about any differences. I never drove any 335 before this was delivered, let alone a GT. The low end is pretty solid. I don't think I've had to break 3000rpm yet in normal driving, city and highway.

The Flexy Frame is similar to the Bumpshox, but lower profile. I'm not looking to change the styling of the car just to keep the bumpers from dings. Same thing with the rear, which is why I can't use BumperGuard. Its way too obvious.

You put the Bumperguard in the trunk while driving...

I hope it's a lease. You'll never sell the car in NY without them. It's really a shame that they're not standard equipment

Nope, not a lease, BMW Select. Dealer knows they're getting it back in 2-3 years, so selling it is their problem. Select works better for me since I can get out of it easily whenever I want. I'm not known to keep cars for very long. With a lease its a whole big deal to get out of before the term is up. Plus the payments are lower.

wait, explain how that works.. i love to switch every year or so and swapping out a lease is a pain

after some googling it appears to be financing for a set term and then a balloon payment is due. what if the car is worth less than the amount due?

The way the F&I guy explained it to me was that since the car is fairly rare (possibly 1 of a kind as equipped) and I don't do a lot of miles, that it should have positive equity in it at around the 2 year mark. I guess they figure that out using the lease residuals or something. The loan itself is for 5 years, with a $24k balloon at the end. He says that nobody ever takes them to term though, so the balloon is not even a consideration, though if I love it and want to keep it, that balloon could be refinanced for another 5 years. Not gonna happen.

How exactly it gets to that equity is beyond me, because according to the amortization chart, I'm still gonna owe $46k after 2 years, and I seriously doubt its gonna be worth that.

ya i think he lied to you. there is no way in hell that your car will be worth $46K after two years. your car is rare because most people dont want a GT. i think the reason people do this type of financing is if they cant afford the car you can now theoretically finance the car for 10 yrs. the difference between leasing and your financing is that i dont care what my car is worth at the end, the dealer has to take it back. in your case they are under no obligation... seems like a crappy deal
