I received a similar jump starter for Christmas (Micro-Start XP-1), so I'm good to go! We've had the F30 for a year now, but I've not noticed that there is no keyhole on the trunk lid to open it the old-fashioned way...

Even with the folding seats, the release is in the trunk. Do you have a secret way to fold them from the front?!?

Wait a sec, don't most people keep their jumper cables or jumper battery in the.. trunk?

It seems pretty ridiculous that if your battery dies you have to either be somewhere that can provide this or keep this device IN THE CAR and not in the trunk.

This is just stupid. BMW did not think this one out. (Or there's another way into the trunk without power... Sure hope so.)

I always have a spare 12V battery on a smart charger in the garage, so if this happened at home I could connect it via old-school jumper cables to the + & - terminals under the hood to energize the trunk release button.

Locked my trunk with the battery disconnected before. Had to pull down the center seat and stick my hand in there to get the trunk emergency pull handle. I think you can only do this if you have the cold weather package though.

You have to be careful, if you disconnect the positive at the battery, that you don't have the lead touching any metal in the battery compartment or else when you hook up the other power supply you could create a short circuit!!!

This is why you disconnect the negative terminal first.

trunk locked, battery disconnected

Hey guys i know this thread is old but really need some help. My battery was weak so i figured i would charge it, disconnected negative terminal and kind of pushed it down behind the battery ( didn't take the battery out and left the positive cable on) hooked up my charger and closed the trunk only to realize a few moment later that was dumb, should have dropped rear seats but here i go, locked trunk, negative terminal is disconnected, and have no idea how to get to it. I tried jumping cables from under the hood, still dead, tried jumping from other car while running, tried different cables, still no power, any advise i would really appreciate it...

Sometimes the middle section of the rear seat folds down. There is a black piece of plastic by the headrest if it does. You press it and drop it and then you can reach for the emergency latch. I'd start there if you have that option

Unhappy Help please - feeling stupid

So my main battery appears to be dead after a period of not driving the car. The key fob with a new battery in is not opening the car and the key doesn't open the car either. I'm stuck with not being able to get under the bonnet
