Catless smell B58 vs N55?
Hello Guys,
I already have a N55 catless and the smell is not that bad at all, will be replacing my car soon with a B58 and would like to know how is the smell compared? Also noticed a bit of low end lost with catless, is this issue the same on B58? Thanks! JC |

How do you know that you lost "low end" by going catless? Do you have a before and after dyno?
Catless should allow faster spool, period. Exhaust "backpressure" causing torque loss is a myth. Exhaust pulsing can change "low end" if it's not designed properly (or not designed at all, as with 99.9% of custom exhausts). Shops don't "design" exhausts, LARGE manufacturing companies do. That's why shops don't understand the net effects of their "designs" and simply blame it on "backpressure". |

And nope, no torque loss (that can be felt). I agree with the poster above. My car pulls much harder and faster down low and all the way to redline.

And the dynamics of smell or lack of smell should be pretty much identical on the B58 versus the N55.. Like above smell is only if you stand behind the car... and maybe a little more smell on a very cold start, but cold start smell happens on stock cars as well as the cats aren't at operating temperature. If you think N55 is not bad, you will barely notice the B58 smell

No, not at all...
It is however a very strong smell outside of the cabin. When my windows are down it ultimately depends on which way the wind blows but the smell is strong and noticeable to a point where my passengers asked about it.

This. With the windows up, literally zero smell. On the other hand with windows down, every passenger I’ve had has complained. Similar scenario in a garage or a parking space surrounded by walls. I’ve had some people embrace the smell, but me personally, it’s a disaster. The spool/sound benefit is worth it.
