Thanks Shaun,
Sorry to bug you, but, what are your thoughts... F30 320D - I exchanged my non dab basic HU for a basic HU with DAB (secondhand/ebay). After installation I could see the DAB options on the radio and now that I’ve changed the aerial amp and added an aerial cable the DAB is fully functioning. The problem I’ve now got is that the Bluetooth telephone won’t initiate, all I can see on the car screen is “please wait” In the options the bluetooth telephone selection box is greyed out and I can't select it? I also can’t see the current software version in settings. Any ideas on a fix? Is it a coding issue? Thanks Last edited by willpf; 05-31-2015 at 05:29 AM.. |

Anything that can be coded to get the parking proximity sensors/screen turn on automatically?
My Car: 2014 528i - NBT_B13185A - E-Sys : 3.26.1 (Build 42487) - v.54.1_PSdZData_Lite |

I just recently added/retrofitted the Rear PDC sensors to my F30 and i encountered an error when i went to VO code option 507 (rear PDC only) to the car. Only two ECUs need to be re-coded for this change (REM and HU_NBT). When i went to code the first ECU (REM), I got this error. Anyone else seen this? What is a VCM update and is it normal to see this when you VO code a new option?
Now, I do have a new hardware REM (700), and i had to create a new CAFD for it earlier, using the Detect CAF from SWE option. So it is a new module, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it... Incidentally, i also tried to code the HU_NBT ecu and that sorta worked, but i also noticed some strange errors near the bottom of the log (see attached logfile). Anyone know what those are? Btw.. i'm using E-Sys 3.26.1 and 54.1 PSdZData Lite - have done a bunch of FDL coding before with no issues, but first time doing VO coding. REM is only hardware piece that i added to the car afftected by coding, and had to generate new CAFD for it Last edited by squidlyboy; 05-31-2015 at 06:46 PM.. |

I find the NCD/CAFD tool extremely useful to figure out which ECUs need to be coded after adding a new options via VO Coding.
I was just curious... if you know exactly which ECUs are affected (and their new values) by the new option being enabled, would it be the same thing to just go in, and just do normal FDL coding to those ECUs directly? I mean, you have all the info in this tool to go do that. Like in the example below. The only benefit i would see in doing a complete CODE of an ECU is if there are extensive modifications to make across multiple ECUs (e.g. xenon headights) and you wanna save time. The downside of doing a full CODE of a ECU is that you lose all prior manual FDL code changes and have to re-code those. |
