Interior/exterior
Man that interior looks awesome. Very cool. I think BMW makes their interiors look more spartan on purpose, but I definitely see the appeal there.
Are you an OB? As I have said, I love S4s probably moreso now after this thread, but after seeing all of those photos, I still gotta give exterior styling to the 3 series by more than a nose. |

OB
Ha, no. I thought your handle might indicate you were an obstetrician/gynecologist, commonly referred to as an "OB". I thought your handle might have been meant to read like Dr. OB

Heh, no just a dumb name after one of my favorite college football players of all time. I suppose I'm a Dr but about as far from that (EE).

Here's a B8 S4 with a similar setup, would love to see it on a similar blacked out B8.5

drob23: Nice car! IMO, LCI B8 front-end looks much better/fresher than it used to be.
As far as the interior goes, I don't like 2 things: 1. No hand brake. I think it's a must have on a manual transmission car (you obv. have an auto so it isn't as important). 2. Don't like the cup holders position. Again, it would only be a big deal with a manual as the bottle or whatever else might go in there might interfere with one's hand. Love the seats and the streeting wheel!

One thing I do love is the finish of the wheel leather, it's just really mushy and soft. I never actually drove an M-sport, so I can't comment on that wheel, but I didn't like the stock one both in terms of looks and the finish quality. The leatherette also while easy to keep was certainly not in the same league as the Audi, so if I had to order a F30 today I would go with the Dakota.

Personally I did not like the dash layout of the Audi's, not taking anything away from the cars the interior are great but BMW's layout works for me.
The M Sport steering wheel is one of the best in the business though

Couple other random observations - love the under handle lights in the 3er, it's criminal that the S4 comes with interior bulb lighting (cost me 120 to order led replacements), the S4 has fogs, the S4 has rear fogs that you can activate (awesome to get tailgaters off your back), I was able to change the brightness of DRL's and various other headlight/tailight settings in VAGCOM. Also, able to activate features like roll up windows with FOB, watch video while driving (no I don't actually do this but a passager can), turn off annoying warning chimes/messages, enable lap timer and have the ability to run scans to check on various ECU faults etc. Coding these cars into Eurospec setting is really cool, I'm sure I'd get the same amount of enjoyment doing this in a 3er.

One thing that is often noticed in the exhaust note of the N55, its pretty cool for a six cylinder. The Nappa leather interior in the S4 smells good though

Also when accelerating there is more likely hood that the drink will spill backward into this area also. In the S4 yes it blocks the armrest somewhat but there is no danger of this unless braking real real hard and even that the chances are real slim the shifter area is sloped. The electronic handbrake I don't like. Manual handbrake is lots more fun and most likely more reliable down the road. |

Former S4 owner here. I miss my V8, but not the problems that came with it. Styling is subjective, but my S4 had CF front and rear spoilers, CF interior and nice Recaro seats.
Overall impressions vs my humble 328i Sport is that the S4 feels heavier. It's also a beast on the freeway at high speeds. Interior is on par, again that is subjective... Ultimately it was the poor lease terms that turned me off. I have owned my past 2 cars and returning to lease for a short period to save some $$$. Residual on the S4 is pretty bad. I also just wanted to try something new. The new S4 bodystyle is nice, but the F30 really caught my eye. Even the base model trim F30, IMO looks better than the S4. Looks aside, handling is much more enjoyable in a 3... still miss that V8 though... |

Like many have stated earlier, sales figures are misleading due to lease figured on BMWs. Over the years, Audi NEVER had an edgy styling, but blend. Cost of ownership is also off the roof compared to BMWs. Not a very difficult decision IMO.
