Here is how U can use Android handsfree in BMW

Here is what I have found to work best..................

2014 428IX with Nav.....................

LG G# KIT KAT 4.4.................

1. I use Steelie Nitzzie phone holder, Google it, it's the best car phone holder period!

2. I always plug my phone in to charge when in my car and have TASKER set to turn on Bluetooth whenever the phone is charging, so I'm automatically connected to Bluetooth

3. I use SCREEBL form the play store so when ever my phone is in the Steelie Nitzee magnetic car phone holder my screen stays on because it is in upright position (function of SCREEBL)

4. I installed Google Search button/app from the play store

5. When I say OK GOOGLE, the listening microphone appears on my Idrive screen, and the voice prompt works through the car speakers. As long as the music is not loud, I can say OK GOOGLE and the phone will react and stop the music and listen. You can use any command as you normally would with GOOGLE NOW. Alternatively you can just hit the radio control button and silence the radio and OK GOOGLE will still work

Near perfect solution to full handsfree in car with Android

Do i need a newer phone to make his works?

How did you get your Idrive to mirror your Android phone?

Thanks for this. This setup works but anyone managed to use Okay Google to look up a address and then when asked if you want directions.... the directions is sent to the car Nav rather that started routing on the phone?

Bobo13,

I have 2014 328i with Tech package. There's an alternative that allows you to do voice Google local searches; you can then take results and select the one you want directions to with car's Nav. All you have to do is code the following:
HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > GOOGLE_LOCAL_SEARCH from nicht_aktiv to aktiv

Having done that, all I do is press the voice control button on the steering wheel and say, "POI" and can select from different categories.

Though I can do Google searches through the hands-free of the car and my Samsung phone, can't get results into Nav system
