Installed today and looks great, but I notice that the led in the bottom for the cup holder is no longer on. Could it be that I did something wrong? Shouldn't it still come on?
Update: Took the y-wire apart and reassembled and everything working fine now.

Yes, it should be on.
Re-check the polarity of your wiring, you probably switched some wires.

Hi Dante, I got F20 120D m sport 2016. I have lightning package but not cupholder led.
Is your tutorial compatible with my car? Thank you.

The trim piece is entirely different on F3x models. Not interchangeable with F2x cars.

I as well would be interested to retrofit the cupholder LED on F2x cars, since my MY 2017 M2 is also missing it.

Thanks for the cable Dante. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier to let you know that I received it. Installed the trim today. Quite an easy mod to do.

This is how it looks like mounted in my car at daylight:

Please note: The different ambient light modes depend on options. White 'Sport' mode is only featured with M-Sport and Sport Line, AFAIK.

You like this? Here is how its done:

WooW ! very good:
in can do this on my f36 of 2015 ?
thanks

Yes, you can!
But please read Post #2 in this thread carefully, as your car might be to new for the simple mod.

does anyone know why there are 3 wires? One obviously is for ground, and other for power, but what is the third one for?

Got it. Thanks. Same color wires as door LEDs, which is what I'm working on.

You cannot find the black one as spare, you need to buy the repair one green: Universal socket housing uncoded 4 POL. #61132359994

Does BMW make the trim piece in matte black? I appreciate that the gloss black is an upgrade over the pre LCI matte black, but it won't match the rest of my trim, which is dark wood.

can anyone who has done this tell me if the actual LED piece is removable and whether it is hard or flexible? I would like to do this on my F23, but the part numbers appear to be different, so I'm not sure if the whole trim piece would fit. swapping the LED part from one trim piece to the other could possibly work for those wanting to keep the matte trim too perhaps? Just thinking out loud here.
