That would be great! But, pretty much every picture of the M wheel shows it with blue stitching. I ordered coral red interior, and am a bit concerned that the blue stitching will be very out of place. What stitching will the M wheel have? Will it have multi color thread, red/blue, or black? Do you have a picture showing the M wheel with the non blue stitching? |

No big deal though. The post you were addressing had it right. Summer performance tires on average have a harder ride than all season tires. The poster didn't say summer tires ride harder due to the rubber compound. He said that summer tires will wear quicker to do having a softer rubber compound. So, all seasons tend to have a better ride. Summer tires have better overall handling in warm temps. All seasons tend to have longer life as their tire compound is not as soft as summer tires. Summer tires wear quicker due to their softer tire compound. As for which tire is better in the rain, summer tires are not better in the rain. All seasons are better in wet conditions in both warm and cold weather. Summer performance tires are designed to maximize performance on warn and dry roads. They are the best performing tire, but do their thing in the most limited of conditions. Check the tirerack.com testing and you'll see that high performance all seasons have better wet performance over high perf. summer tires. This is on average, as there are always exceptions. |

So we don't get blue stitching or blue brakes...any idea if the accessories (floor mats, hand brake covers, etc) will be offered in MSport blue in addition to the Sport Line red?

I don't think BMW borrows anything from Ford, it is usually the other way around. But the similarities are a bit too similar to the mustang which has been that way since 09. Either way Bimmer makes it look much better and refined, not as cheap looking as the stangs.

Steering wheels are all round...you can only add so many spokes...If you look very hard you'll see that Model T steering wheels look pretty similar to modern steering wheels....why? b/c they are wheels....

Looks like canada gets blue brakes as a option, just don't understand why BMW wont offer this in the states since a large bulk of their sales are here.

The 328i and the 335i's brakes, though not the same, have both rated very well with reviewers.
Both model's sport line versions were run and tested at Laguna Seca and both cars braking performed very well, no problems reported. And with proper tires both models have impressive/short braking distances. Those of you who want the M performance brakes, will you be tracking your car? If not, then is the appeal a cosmetic one? Just curious really. I'm not judging at all. Heck I ordered a 335i Msport just for the cosmetics, as there aren't any performance enhancements with Msport, unless you consider the staggered 18" wheel/tires with wider rear tires, a performance upgrade. General comments on Msport and other options: I was considering getting the "dynamic handling pkg." for the tighter steering ratio rack. BMW should have included some of these "M performance" items in the Msport package. Even the "sport AT with paddles" is an option in the Msport. That should have been included, along with the tighter ratio steering rack. OR, the whole "dynamic handling pkg." should have been standard with Msport. As it is, Msport is a sport line 3 with a cosmetics pkg. BMW even has the nerve to name the sport suspension something different as if it is something different. Bump the Msport price by about $500-$700 and include the VSS and adaptive suspension. Then, at least there would be a standard difference. And, why not AT LEAST add the PPK for a bit of extra power for the Msport? PPk is supposed to be available this late fall/early winter. Will sport line and/or Msport owners get a discount to install PPK? I'll bet that once PPK is ready it will be included in the Msport, leaving those of us who already have one really pissed. The decision for the M Sport package was almost entirely cosmetic for me, as I'll never come close to pushing this car to its limits (even without the increased top speed limiter option due to getting x-drive package w/ all-season tires) on the roads I travel.
That said, I do like the option for the sport AT transmission, but didn't love the styling on the regular sport model. I realize that many people LOVE the sport styling, but it just doesn't grab me. I wound up dropping the extra $500 for the sport AT. One issue that makes me a little apprehensive now that my car is in production: it appears that the M Sport in conjunction with all season tires (a must where I live) somewhat neuters the appeal of the vehicle: no top speed increase, and no lowered suspension. These don't really bother me, but it seems like I'm simply paying for a more aggressive external styling package (and paying a premium for it). What really does bother me, however, is that the 400 style wheels don't appear to come with M Sports configured with all season tires. At least on my production page on the BMW site, my car appears to have some pretty ugly 7 spoke wheels (I think they are style 396). Of the various 18" wheels, these are by far my least favorite, and I'll be a little disappointed if this is indeed what shows up at my dealership. I would much prefer any of the other line's 18" wheels over these. I suppose this is the risk of building a car before you've seen and thoroughly investigated all the available options. Of course, this is also the reason why leasing is so wonderful; I'll pick a better one next time! In short, I might reconsider my choice for an M sport when this lease is up. I seem to be paying an awful lot of money for not many features (at least compared to a RWD M SPort with summer performance tires), and the aesthetic appeal of the M sport package is significantly diminished (at least in my eyes) if the all season tire option means I'm getting the 396 wheels by default. Of course, I don't have my car yet, and I may wind up really liking the 396 wheels. ANyone who cares to tell me how much they love these wheels is welcome to make me feel better! |
