New 430d GC

Wife and I picked up our new 430d GC m sport today. It provides company on our driveway for the 2013 330d f30 we also have

GC Spec:

M sports plus
Folding mirrors/dimming
Extended storage
Black leather interior

We didn't get anything else as xenons, pro media, electric seats all standard

They fitted the wrong interior trim (we ordered brushed aluminium with black but got the hexagonal blue one) but they will get that sorted in a week or two.

Driving impressions

Firmer ride than the f30 (which has adaptive suspension) but steering has more feel on the GC and the steering wheel is a bit smaller which feels better to hold.

Rear visibility isn't as good as on the f30 but really not a problem. Pity we have those awful Bridgstones tyres though.

I'm not that impressed with Harmon kardon. Might need to play around with the settings though as everyone raves about it. Latest pro media looks sharper than on our f30 330d.

Nice motor, is the trim on the doors wrong or is it just the dash? If it's wrong on the doors, they'll need to fit new door cards, my first one was never the same after that so if they do that, pay close attention to it when you get it back.

Congrats great looking car, and a nice BMW family there.

HK probably my first option with a BMW think it's awesome compared to standard.

It's the wrong trim all over, door cards included, so a lot to replace. We'll be sure to check it carefully! It was strange as we changed the colour of the car from white to mineral grey after we had ordered but they somehow amended our interior trim selection. We didn't spot it!

Are there any optimal settings we need to be aware of or is it trial and error to get the best sound for us?

I was pretty impressed when I adjusted my HK to these settings provided by a member who clearly knows a hell of a lot more than myself about audio

As Jamin320 has posted did a good job for my settings.

Also read the below article, I am certainly no audiophile but mine defiantly got better with age.

Congrats on the new car, V nice!!!

Isn't it only heated seat as standard? Not electrically adjustable with memory too?

GreAt looking car. I hope you aren't getting the car keys muddled up - we do as they are kept together overnight!

You don't 'turn on' Harmon Kardon, you always have it you just adjust the settings, including whether you want the L7 surround on. I don't personally as it makes everything sound too fake.

Trial and error really as everyone's taste is different. You will also find if you set it up on the move it may not sounds as good when stationary and vice versa....

Yes, it's a bit of a problem, not helped by the fact we have 4 Cooper BMW key rings. I'm sure Amazon will have some alternatives!

Which cars do you have in your household?

GC looks great and I love the way orbit grey hair n the rims works with MG!

I am also a little unimpressed with my HK too. I've used the settings suggested in a few threads on here and it sounds pretty good now but any level of high volume usually results in annoying vibrations from the speaker covers around the car.... Bloody annoying as it only happens with certain frequencies and I'm concerned that any 'repair' attempts will just result in more rattles and creaks as trim gets removed and replaced

I wasn't initialy impressed with my HK, but it has definitely got better know it's been used.
After a few weeks, I gave it full volume a few times to make sure the speakers were loosened up!!

Hmm. Configurator doesn't show that. Definitely going to keep an eye on the GC for my next next car.
