Nope, if you take a look at when the timer starts, he passes by a marker shadow on the right. Then when the timer ends, he's passing by that same marker shadow. This means this was the actual lap time used in the comparo test which is why they did commentary on it. Obviously not the video he wanted to put up as he's cursing in it, but it was the actual time so they had to use it.

I don't get it. If he (they) recognize that the lap had too many mistakes why not do more laps. What are we missing? Is the commentary lap and the timer different? This surely is not the best lap the car can do. I'm not suggesting you run it all day, but clearly it's a bit faster.

Yep you're right. I see that now. This must have been the fastest lap, even if the driver didn't like it. I was just trying to think of possible reasons they showed us this (not perfect) lap in particular.

Dan Parker and I are the only two race car drivers (past or present) that commented on the post, as far as I can tell. My results speak for themselves.

But then again, it doesn't take a race car driver to spot the mistakes that the driver in the video makes.
