Brand New 2015 BMW 320i with overheated transmission
I purchased a 2015 BMW 320i it had 8 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. Five minutes later a transmission overheat warning came up on the screen. The car dealer picked up the car and did some diagnostics that were sent onto BMW. The dealer is waiting to hear back from BMW but they think it is the mechantronic system, which I understand is the computer system for the car.
I am very disappointed in my first purchase of a BMW. Does anyone think this car is a lemon and should I request a new car? How should I handle this problem with the BMW dealership? They have giving me a nice BMW 528i as a loaner while they sort out this issue. |

Sorry to hear.
Could just be a faulty sensor. Mechatronics is the auto transmission valve system. Wait and see what they find. Faulty sensors are found in all makes all the time. Sucks, but thats life.

A first world problem. BMWs are complicated cars. I would't worry two much about one or two faults that get corrected quickly by the dealer under warranty. Things get complicated when you have the same fault recurring over and over and BMW can't figure it out.
Then you might be thinking about lemon laws. Probably not going to be the case with your car. |

Since its fitted as a complete unit you should be fine.
Not a difficult task to do for the techs. Much better than trying to repair one piece of it. Just unfortunate it wasnt picked up before you got the car. Others are and the owners never know the part was changed. Hope you get it back soon.

Considering the car has less than 10 miles, i would ask to replace it.
