Coding ASD on 435i

F80 and S55 work

I was researching ways to disable ASD without throwing a fault and I stumbled on this thread amongst others. It's so ironic that over on the M boards almost everyone can't stand ASD, and either codes it off or unplugs the module. I find the F8x ASD too boomy even on my F82 so I have disabled it by choosing s model range not compatible with the S55 engine.

I have a BMW 428i (Production Date Dec 15) and the sound doesn't change when I edit the value to F82/S55

Can you give me a screenshot of the screen that you edited? Should be two locations, Model and Engine.

Did you place in Sports mode?

thanks for the quick reply

It looked exactly the same like on bobby's screenshot

When I configure the default value (F30 / N20) then I hear the ASD. Maybe I will try F32 and N55 later...

Edit: Yeah and I was in sports mode.

Ok I see a difference in my code: My Model is set at: F080 Werte 15 and Engine is: S55B30 Werte 0A that should work now.

I also took a screenshot now. The interesting thing is that F32/N55 is also working, but I prefer the sound of N20 ASD.

When did they produce your 4er?

Maybe they changed something with the 2016 models? Does anyone here have a 4 series produced after 07/2015 and has the same issues?

My ASD is not working either...
The F82/S55 combo used to work, but it doesn't anymore.
Issue is, even the default F32/N57 combo doesn't work

It's like it's permanently disabled.

I also checked with ISTA-D and it isn't throwing any errors and the ECU itself is not muted...

Any thoughts anyone?

Maybe shawnsheridan has an idea?

I think I did hear that there was another code other than the two usual ones, where you could "deactivate" the ASD Sound, maybe that got enabled somehow? But with bob1337's, his N20 sound works, bu nothing else?

I was just coding my car yesterday and I don't have an ASD module, but I did notice while coding HU_NBT I did see a few ASD under 3000,3001, or 3003, I can't remember which one, but they were all listed together and I believe it was set to not active or something of that sort. I'm not sure if this would do anything.

Before i had ASD coded with f80 and s55 engine, everything was fine but after a service visit at my dealer they updated all modules, i tried to code it back but there is no sound....

Now i tried with n55 engine and is working.

Not sure? Make sure "ASD_SOUND_OFF" is set to nicht_aktiv. maybe they turned that on?

Also, try some other model and engine combinations that you definitely know worked for you (default), and see if you get the ASD.

It may be directly related to the ASD being updated.

Some F80 members are also having issues.

Ok, so the F80 N55 Engine works now great!! Does it sound the same? Yeah it is funny about the ASD, but I guess its human nature to want what you don't have. LOL Just like people curling their hair, getting tans, bleaching, hair color etc.

Yeah that seems like it was remnants of ASD code for the Mini, and it doesn't seem to do anything for our 4 series.
