Got my car back today. The 15K service was just a vehicle check. They also did the FEM re-programming to stop the wipers from exploding. Like Seph, lost all my coding changes, but not a big deal.

Only if they reprogram, but that should be pretty rare. I think you probably have the latest software anyway so you may not be affected. We can code it again if neccessary

I drove mine earlier and had ASS kick in. Forgot what that felt like!

My car's not even at 3k since 13 Oct '12. Will change next week as I'm going on a road trip holiday.

Is anyone going to do a oil and filter change at 6 months?

I am considering changing the oil at 6 months just for my own peace of mind

Yeah, I think its a good idea. At least more frequently than the prescribed oil change interval of 25K.

Did it a fortnight ago after 6000km were logged. Picked up two firmware updates at the same time.

As stated by another post, the ticking sound we use to receive is now minimal. The power delivery of the car is different aswell and my fuel consumption has gone up. I will test the fuel consumption over a couple of tanks to find out exactly how much different it is but wont be happy if i am not getting close to the 700km per tank urban that i use to be getting.

The 1-8 memory buttons have been reset and the saved stations have been aswell (spent almost an hour working out how to do them). With the software, obviously my coding edits are now back to defaults so i will be doing all that this weekend.

Wheel alignment:

I got my wheel alignment checked by a tyre shop weeks before this service and i was given figures where the front left camber was about -.3 and right was +.3. I brought it up with the dealer upon service but the reply i received was 'the camber is slightly off but still within spec. We allow 1" variation". This sounds excessive to me so i will probably be looking at aftermarket parts if BMW Australia states that this is true.

Also, the dealer in South Yarra said i can turn off start stop on the car whereas Oakleigh said i could not. They said that BMW Australia has not approved of the removal of the device and the risk is on the dealer. IMO very interesting
In regards to the start stop feature, Auto Classic, aswell as another source said that BMW AG had approved the feature to be modified, I signed offical documentation on delivery stating that it was as per my instruction that BMW modify the feature.
Interesting how the story differs from dealership to dealership.

Out of curiosity, what sort of $$$ were you up for the 15K?

Not much, the actual 15K service itself is just a vehicle inspection. It won't cost much unless other CBS items come up at the same time. Mine was about $130. Hard to tell if they did much, but the car felt really good afterwards for some reason. Could be the re-programming, or maybe they just put some air in the tyres

Or the placebo effect. Good to know it's running well.

I am noticing the ticking of the engine again. Still not as loud as before but its still there. Power-wise, comfort looks to be a little weaker but the power is still there on sports+. Went to visit the dealer i purchased the car from said to drop in to them and they will remove the ASS for me straight away. I discussed with them that i was not able to get a loan car at their sister store and they said there would be no problem for a loan car the next time i service. They apologized for the confusion aswell and advized the next time i drive pass their dealer and have a couple mins spare to drop in for the ASS removal

BMW Service Inclusive (BSI)

Has anyone been offered a Service Inclusive program? Is it a good value? In particular, I'm interested in Service Inclusive Basic, 5 years/100,000 km.

The details are in here:

BSI Basic doesn't include consumables like wipers or brake pads, right?

Previously my E84 X1 cost $170 in first year service and then $700 in second year. Third year is supposed to be the same as second. So assuming F20 is about the same then basically you are paying for 3 services upfront which you can include in your original car finance - if you are getting financing.

Otherwise it really depends on how many km you expect to do. If you do close to 60,000 over 3 years then you should get the value from the package otherwise you may not need to do 3 services in 3 years.

Not much, if anything can be done about it. They are the Bosch solenoid injectors, which are loud.

I spoke to the Senior Service Advisor at BMW Melbourne in late November and was told "can't be done" which I knew wasn't truthful but it is interesting to note other dealers in Oz are doing it.

Your dealer isn't BMW Melbourne, right?
