I've used the online configurator and eagerly await the quotes for both models. As for the 4k diesel discount, why couldn't they just give that as a fuel card to be used over a certain period of time. |

And why would you want it that way? Why not just take the 4k savings (if that is what it is) in the beginning and be done with it? The 4k promotion indicates that BMW wants to move specific models and prices are very negotiable. Considering the strong AUD in the last 12 months there has to be a big fat margin over and on top of the ridiculous pricing we have in AUS. Where are you getting your quotes from? Dealerships or car brokers? And yes CKau you are right only the 320d and the X3 2.0D are having the promotion. |

Yes like what was stated most of the time the idea of promo is to move floor stock just be specific on what you want.
My mate got a superb deal on his 1 series by taking floor stock he got 10% of rrp |

The reason why I mentioned having the diesel credit is that one can never be sure if you are really getting the full 4k discount given how variable negotiations and base prices can be geographically. With a fuel card at least I would be reassured that I would be getting the full 4k discount worth. Just a thought.

I wouldn't worry about it. Either way just try to get the best deal you can and be prepared to walk away. Whether they honour the full 4k discount or not doesn't really change anything - if they won't do it they won't do it period.
You can still get your fuel credit but they jack up the dealer delivery and/or lower your trade-in if you have one. I would imagine if you walk in and say you want a 320d and don't care if it is a floor stock they would be all over you. |

I've just been quoted a 328i with the following specs:
Specifications 328i Luxury Line Sapphire Black Black Leather Interior Sunroof Xenon Headlights with Washer system High Beam Assist Lane Change warning Digital Radio Music Interface for smartphone Voice control Price $86883 drive away. It's currently in stock at the dealer. He won't do it for 80K. Seems a bit steep? |

I totally agree.. i think they may be trying to move their mass 320d 318d stocks.
Was just looking at the used bmw list for 2012, dam there were alot of 320i 320d 318d. Saw a pretty good deal M sports GC color for 78k with 1000kms .. not bad a deal even before negotiations , could potentially get it down to 73-75k. Here's a pic |

Thanks. You guys have been very helpful. Unfortunately from reading the earlier parts of this thread I understand that there are two BMW dealerships in Perth under the same management so it's not so competitive. I'll wait and see how flexible they can be.

Have you considered a car broker?
I have previously bought a new BMW through a broker and I ended up saving 4.5k when the dealer would not budge. |

All the prices you are all being quoted are too high. Guys, when i say to use redbook, i mean go to www.redbook.com.au. You will find out both the RRP and drive away price in seconds for free. No waiting. I too was suckered into using the BMW quoting system. I found the prices over email are a load of BS.
The only way is to go in there, and as Tra8R said negotiate armed with knowledge of the RRP (which is less than the drive away price) from redbook. Wear down the salesperson... take a test drive and haggle over every detail. Make up some BS about how stretched your budget is but this is the car you want. Tra8R, your price was a little above RRP. I thought you got a bit below? In any case, both your experience and mine indicates it is possible to achieve at least RRP of the base car plus options. In addition to a broker, I would also suggest getting a quote for a 1 year lease and compare the after tax cashflow with the RRP. My company's lease supplier was actually very competitive and was out by 1k from RRP. So i had a very real alternative if the dealer did not want to do a deal. I could walk knowing i had the leasing option. As for blackfan in perth... I just searched for WA dealers and... Sorry my friend... Does not look like you are situated in a competitive market at all :-(

I am pretty sure I got less than RRP. Last time I was on redbook my car is supposed to be 84k OTR with $3,650 dealer delivery. Plus I got an extra year in warranty and free service for 4 years.
At the end of the day it really depends on the dealer and how desperate they are at that point. Be prepared to walk away. Speak to a broker. |

I didn't realise Redbook was so useful. I agree the online quotes from BMW are BS.
It baffles me that the dealer delivery fee is 5K and on road costs are 5.17K in WA compared to only 2.76K and 3.65K respectively in QLD for example. Don't we live in the same country? Now I feel like I have a good grasp on where I stand during any future negotiations. |

Different state then different stamp duty, rego and ctp.
Who knows with dealer delivery? Maybe the cars land in an eastern state and then transported westward? Or just purely ripoff? Online or email quotes are BS. I once quoted a X3 for my dad over the phone with a sales guy I have spoken to previously in person and he gave me a quote that was identical to Redbook. So I don't think they give anything away unless in person |

As for where cars land, Fremantle gets delivery's first before the Eeastern states. You can check the shipping route at the WW website. |

I dont find redbook option prices accurate at all really. Pricer for each option defer from model to model. From the last time i was going through redbook they had the same pricing for options some of which were bundled together by bmw aleady.
