rocker panel and side skirts difference

Hi guys,

Is there a difference in parts between rocker panel and side skirts or are they just interchangeable words?

Like for the picture I attached, is the black part with the M performance decal named differently than the white part? Or are they 2 separate parts.

The black part is a decal which us stuck over the standard panel on MSport derivatives
The thing white strip is a side sill which has been color matched, they come in Matt black or CF

So are you saying that whole black part is actually a sticker/decal placed on top of the side skirt?

The rocker panel is the white piece attatched to the side skirt that has the black vinyl.

This is what it looks like now.

The black strip is a vinyl decal and the side sill is the thin blue strip which is added on and originally comes in Matt black or CF, mine was Matt Matt black but I color matched it

The M-Performance side blades are a matte black polyurethane piece that drills in on the underside of your M-Sport Side Shirt. The matte color is a base coat and they can be painted to match the color of your car like the pic from the OP. There is also a matte black vinyl overlay that goes on the side skirt with "M Performance" printed on it as also showed in the pic from the OP. Here's a pick of my car with the side blades in stock matte black but without the vinyl overlay.

so the side sill doesn't just attach to the underbody of the side skirt, but the side skirt actually needs to be drilled in order to attach the sill?

About 11 holes on each side if you go by the oem factory instructions.

I've linked the OEM instructions posted on this forum below.

well the problem is, I just have a base model F30 328xi, I am not sure what I need to purchase to get the rocker panel and the blade part. When I figure that out, I will probably do what you said and purchase the vinyl

So I just did some research and found this one on ebay:

Has anyone purchased anything from duraflex and can give some feedback on the quality?

I think that is just the side skirt extensions, so the flat piece underneath, can someone confirm?
