Sport mode chassis only + DS = Sport mode chasis + drivetrain?
Recently picked up 2013 335 xdrive sport with sport 8AT with DHP. I'm still playing around with drive mode settings for my liking. I like the idea of setting sport mode for chassis only and then I can easily choose to engage DS mode only when I want with a flick of the shifter. I've searched the forums but it's not entirely clear if sport mode chassis only + DS is completely equivalent to sport mode chassis + drivetrain by itself. The only part that seems unclear from other posts is the throttle response. It does feel different to me in DS (like on my e90) but some posts say on the f30 that DS does not alter throttle response. Can anyone better clarify this? Thanks.

If you set your dynamic handling config to chassis ONLY you get increased shock tension and less power steering boost. Flipping the lever over to sport, raises the shift points of the AT to keep the engine in a higher REV range increasing accelaration reponse.
If you put your dynamic handling config to chassis and drivetrain you gain the increased throttle repsonse, too. I don't like it--too jumpy especially in traffic. I use the chassis only and add the sport drive on the trans as needed/desired. hope this helps. try for yourself to see what suits you. |
