Rear lights condensation or water ingress

My first post so be gentle.

I have a f30 64 reg, almost two years old.

Do you think this is condensation or water ingress in both rear lights ?

Do you think, I should take it back under warranty? My car before this was over ten years old, with no water in the lights.

I am annoyed and if I do take it back, I don't want to get fobbed off or just have the light dried out, so it happens again next year.

What do you think ?

Thanks

My mate has a 1 series 64 plate and had water in his rear lights and got them changed without any quibbles....worth discussing with your local dealership for sure

I had both my 330d rear lights replaced under warranty with less water in them than that! They replaced them without any hassle at all.

Yep me too. Trouble is the bloody replacements are now the same, so need to get them sorted! They did ask me at the first time if I pressure washed it frequently, obviously I said no.

Known fault. Dealer should replace without quibble. Had mine done on the last car (2012 328i).

New one has been fine. So far....

I had one replaced too.

Are we not allowed to pressure wash our cars now? You would think a car capable of 155mph would be able to withstand a pressure wash.

Not only a problem on the 3 series. Wifes Z4 had both rear lights replaced under warranty due to water ingress. Common problem.

Rear lights

Hi JD6

Interesting you should mention pressure washing, last three time my car has been back to main dealer they have pressure washed it as part of the valet service.

My 14 Plate F30 had noticeable condensate in the near side rear unit and then the indicator failed. Replaced under warrantee for the damp. The other side failed on the indicator and just had the bulb holder replaced as the unit was more or less dry.

Get it to the dealers for certain. New unit is an easy warrantee fix.

155mph in reverse is impressive.

Glad I saw this thread as I noticed my rear light clusters have the same problem with water/condensation on the inside of both.

Just called my dealer and he said it is a known issue and they will order two warranty replacements.

It's already booked in for a loose airbox (noisy) and squeaking brakes anyway, so just added to the job card.

I know, the service guy just asked; not sure the line of enquiry would have gone had I said "yes, I power wash it daily!" Just wanted to nip any dodging in the bud early. I must say tho the dealer have been excellent on every other occasion occasion including fixing the dreaded door rubber cill squeak! Strangely its been n/s both times and not o/s
