All four tires slashed...
Hi, I have 2012 F30 335i sport line with 18" wheels and stock run flat tires (I believe those are Pirelli).
Someone slashed all four of them and wrote some stuff on my hood yesterday. Hood can be cleaned but gotta get new tires since they are all punctured on the sides. Anyone in New York area with a reasonable price can IM me. Thanks, Ps. Also, any ideas for a camera that can record, say for 10 to 12 hours, while parked at night? |

Go with michelin pilot sport plus or other pilot ones, the ride quality is great and you just buy the mobility set from bmw. Quick repair for punctures without having to replace the tire with a spare!
At least thats what i did at 800 km, now almost 6000 km and never looking at runflats again! Im really happy with my setup |

Just be aware that those goo guns for repairing normal tyres in lieu of a spare are crap

Aye. True. But still a PITA if you're trying to get somewhere. I lost a rear tyre about a month ago on the motorway (at 95mph!) in the wife's Mazda 5 with the kids in the back. I got the kids the other side of the barrier, got out my warning triangle and high-vis vest and changed the tyre in about 10 minutes. It could have been an hour before a wagon turned up to tow the car away and I wouldn't have wanted the kids standing in the rain on a motorway for all that time and I wouldn't have gotten to my destination for a long time. There's no substitute for having the means to get where you're going without assistance

Wow, that's not good. Sorry to hear about that.
Dis you check with your insurance? Or did you buy BMW tire / wheel insurance? If you do, should check with them first before cough up new tires yourself. |

I have an account with Tirerack. Let me know which tire you want and I'll get you a fair price I am thinking of using nitto motivo non run flats for my stock 18's and get a spare rim/tire
Sucks to hear your tires got slash in BK

I know. That was the whole point of what I was saying Others were recommending the OP ditch RF tyres and go with normal tyres with a goo gun for repair or even rely on break-down services. I don't think that's such a good idea myself.

Runflats typically do not have the ride quality or handling characteristics of similarly priced non runflats. Unless you are extremely worried about having a blowout in your car then I would put your money on a good set of regular tires off Tirerack because you will get a much higher quality tire (purchased 4 sets of tires from here personally). In the rare event you have a blowout, most insurance companies cover roadside assist so you should be fine. Ask most enthusiasts and they will tell you to avoid runflats if possible especially considering their high price.

I do have comprehensive, but perhaps as most in NY ,I have $1000 deductible. Even if I didn't, the premium increases so much, even in a scenario like mine, that it really isn't worse it. Even NYPD told me not to do that. Unless there is a serious accident, insurance is kinda like an official scam

I've used roadside assist twice before (not for flat tires) and my premium hardly changed so it depends. Plus what are the chances of having a tire blowout? If regular tires were such a risk everyone would be using runflats. I personally get rid of any OEM runflat tires and wheels when I first get a car and upgrade to a good set of non RF tires. Michelin Pilot Super Sports/PS2 are great tires although a little pricier. Hankook V12's are excellent as are Continental DW all for summer tires. For all-seasons look at the Continental DWS or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Many people use these tires on current and past BMW's and have many good things to say about them.

Bensonhurst, it's quite a nice neighborhood. No worries man, it was someone who knew my ethnicity cause he wrote on the hood "what you gonna do, effin Georgian". I have no flag or other sign that says where I come from, just three german color stripes below the rear doors.
