Marriage rules:

1. Wife must not learn to drive a stick
2. Always by MT

Works great, lasts a long time...

My wife has no desire to drive my car because she knows how particular I am about it and she is afraid to mess it up.

But, I feel embarrassed when she tells people I don't let her drive it. What to do?

I've found that most of my previous g/f's knew how to drive a manual. My fiance was going to play a joke on me and move the BMW, but even with CA I had the fob in my pocket and was too far away for her to be able to start the motor. Actually, I found from experience that I should leave the fob with her if she's waiting in the car....the electrical will shut off and she can't open the windows etc. Happened a few times....

My wife actually knows how to drive a stick (and since she learned double-clutching her grandfather's tractor, she's not bad at it!). My daughter does too. I insisted on the latter as a "survival skill".

But they both prefer not to! Adding that my cars generally ride like buckboards because of suspension and tire upgrades, nobody ever wants to drive my cars.

I let a girl drive my A4 a couple years ago, she screwed up the front bumper on a parking curb and then denied it all!

Anyone who is more concerned with a moderately priced mid-range sports car more than their spouse has some serious issues. Sorry, but its just a car.

My wife has driven my car, both with me riding shotgun and without me at all. It doesn't happen very often though (maybe once a month), and there are several times that she asks to drive it and I say no (because I enjoy driving it too much and don't want it to be gone). I don't prefer to have her drive the car, but it's not like I won't let her. Her car is nice, but it's kinda boring to me (IS250).

What are you doing at this forum dude? This place is reserved for German-engineering-loving-I'm-better-than-you people...We spend hours at the keyboard and Zaino-ing our cars. Do you Zaino your wife?

Please read carefully...this is a joke.

dont listen to those boneheads that say things like "dude its just a car, if u dont trust her uve got bigger issues, blah blah blah"

the bottom line is ITS UR CAR, AND U LOVE IT, and u should only decide after asking urself the following questions?

1. does she speed? does she get speeding tickets?
2. how attentive is she when it comes to bumps, pot holes, following to close behind trucks, parking to close to curbs...
3. has she ever caused an accident? how many has she been involved in?

being its ur wife, u should easily be able to answer these questions...based on the results I'm sure ull make an educated guess on the question....

No one ever said they were more concerned about a sports car than their wife, just concerned about their car.

For all I know, its just a car and there are plenty more on the factory lines. Besides, If you have this kind of trust issues, get a divorce and find someone you trust, even with your car.
No, I'm not 20 and in college. I don't know how many 20 year olds can drop 50k on a car. Just passionate about my car and had a question, that's all.

same here, tried to get my GF to learn how to drive a stick but she said she don't need to know how. i let good friends drive my car if they know how to drive a stick properly. sometimes i change cars with a friend of mine who drives a Z4 which also has stick, it's like that sometimes.

offcourse i let her drive my E90!!

but she likes her Mini more than my beemer
so she doesn't drive it alot... except when she goes out with her friends to a party or out for dinner...

Only 2 rules:

NEVER EVER DRINK AND DRIVE... but she doesn't drink alcohol - check

If you have an accident, first take care of yourself than think about the car!

Shit happens to everyone, make sure your wife is prepared and don't keep here dumb when it comes to cars!! Except when you want to get rid of here offcourse
