Why do I suddenly have internet in iDrive??
Hoping someone can provide insight here.
I have a Feb 2014 F30 with ProNav, no internet , no bmw apps. Under the ConnectedDrive menu, it just let me call my local dealer for servicing. Today, I noticed that it had an option to "Update System" under the ConnectedDrive menu. I clicked this for the hell of it, and noticed that it was using my personal hotspot on my phone for downloading the update. After it had finished I now have an "Internet" option and can open a browser that tethers off my phone. I knew this option existed, but my car didn't have it, and I don't have the full "ConnectedApps" so why did I suddenly get a browser? Not complaining!...but just dont understand why this happened...and maybe what else I am missing out on! |

I don't know. I have everything but the web browser. I looked in my 2014 F30 w/ all the goodies. There was an option to "Update BMW Assist" in the menu but no other update option and there's no browser after letting it do that.

I have BMW Online which I had before but that's not what you're getting at by the sound of it... You mention it tethers to your phones connection, how was your phone connected, plugged in via USB or connected via Bluetooth when you had the option appear? And where does it appear? Can you take a screenshot of the menu and then the Internet browser open if poss? Cheers! |

Not near car now, but trying completely unpairing and re-pairing your phone.
When you do, you can go to Bluetooth options and (depending on your car) you can select Bluetooth services for that device: Contacts Data Audio ...Data is what allows iDrive to tether from your phone. The "Internet" option under ConnectedDrive only appears when you are paired and takes a moment to pop up sometimes until its connected to your personal hotspot. |

Don't have the "data" option available. I'll try and update iDrive first (new version is available) and will see if this remains the same. |

Remained the same for me. I'm not losing sleep over it. I will eventually code apps etc on when I get around to ordering a cable. We have the combox as standard in AU due to teleservices and SOS etc being default options on all BMW AU BMWs.
