Well I'm a thousand miles in now, most of which have been pretty short journeys and in traffic with two trips to Birmingham and one to Londonville. 39.1mpg so far and I've had my fair share of fun It's dead easy to keep this car over 40mpg - which is all I wanted from the economy side of things

I recently had a manual 320d f30 as a loan car while mine was in for a paint issue, and i have to say there is no contest, i thought the 320d was very noisy and unrefined and i wasn't impressed the gearbox either. road noise is an issue on both versions however. unacceptable for this class of car! I'm getting 37.6mpg and driving it in eco-mode
That's verified with fuel vs miles too. 1000 miles now, hoping it gets better!

Ha ha it isn't the car mate it's your right foot. Does the EcoPro screen keep telling you to 'lift off' ? That little tip always brings a smile to my face, or the arrow to say 'you're going too fast'

Disappointing to hear that you find the 17 inch wheel/tyre combo to be too noisy, though - that's what I was thinking of getting |

Went for my first long run in the car this morning to pick my parents up from Southampton. Driving down there I got 56.4mpg sticking to 65mph mostly as I had plenty of time.
On the way back with them on board, the car fully loaded with all their luggage after coming off a 3 week cruise, and with the cruise control on 85mph all the way back to get home quickly it averaged 47mpg overall. I work that out as only 40.1mpg for the return trip. The speed (and load) makes a big difference! |

Also went for my first longish run the other day, about 80 miles each way on the M62. 70-80mph all the way, average of 51mpg, which I was very happy with.
For our normal driving - which is mainly slow town driving, usually stuck in traffic, and only shortish journeys, we're getting 34mpg, which again I'm happy with (particularly considering it's winter, and the car has only done just over 500 miles, so will hopefully improve a bit). For comparison, my 135i got 22mpg in the exact same driving, so I'm thankful for the improvement

I have now covered 1850 miles car returns 44MPG per half tank ( I fill up on half) I drive around 75/85 MPH depending on traffic, seems to be loosening up a bit now.
Strangely my Odometer says 43 MPG and when brimming it's two MPG more = 44/45 MPG, so it's pessimistic not had that before. I can get 50+ MPG if I stick to 67MPH.

Does anyone use the ECO PRO Analyser App?
Mine is very intermittent, but it shows 4 trips in the log worst was 45.1mpg (110 miles on dual carraigeway) best was 56.9mpg (51 miles of slow rain spray motorway about 65mph average). |

Seems like you'd always have an extra 25 litres, approx 25kgs, of weight to lug around? I'm not an efficiency freak as I just go from a full tank to an empty one, but it seems like what you are doing is a less than ideal strategy for efficiency

Very interesting (all four pages!)
I'm coming from an audi a5 Quattro 2.0 TFsi which does 31 if I'm lucky on the motorway or about 25 round town. My 330d m sport arrives off the production line on March 9th, better mpg, less tax and a MUCH faster and all round better car.... Life is good. I've joined the dark side :-) |

That sounds good - I can't get anywhere near that in my 328i. How many miles does yours have on it? Mine has done about 3k miles now, but at best I get about 31/32mpg which is mix of town and motorway driving. I'm hoping it'll get better with miles, but I keep wondering if its my driving style /or the manual box being generally less efficient than the autos. I do keep wondering if i should have just "settled" for a 320d given my fuel costs - unfortunately a 330d would have been out of my reach! |
