I miss the BMW community. Great discussion here. As opposed to Rennlist, where everyone would be arguing and telling you it's supposed to ride like shit because it's a GT car. I have nothing to add that hasn't been covered.

If you add 12mm wheel spacers front and rear and swap springs from stock to m Performance adjustables can you and should you code the ecu for the changed parameters to teach the model the new configuration? Is coding the the suspension even possible with bimmer code advanced settings?

I.e. ride height, wheel width, spring rate, etc?

Thanks
Bill

hopefully not off topic

I have a 2011 z4 30i with adaptive M chassis. My rear shocks are good, but the fronts need to be replace. Regular shocks cost $298/ and adaptive are $677/ (so a net difference of $750).

What is the fall out of using regular shocks in an adaptive M (first) and what about when mixing (reg front/adaptive back)?

If you care about how the car drives, then don’t mix/match. If it doesn’t sense two of the dampers, the system will go to a limp mode where it defaults to a constant setting that’s designed for safety and to get you to the dealer for service. You could replace the full set with non-adaptive if you want. You might need some devices to fix EDC fault that will occur, you can probably get them from KW or some other aftermarket company.

What Racer20 said.

Do it properly, irrespective of how you do it. If you want to sacrifice the adaptive suspension for a cheaper suspension - do that.
But never mix and match.
