Pre Detail Inspections
Hi folks.
1st time poster, long time reader. What's peoples opinions on the dealerships detailing new cars ? Me, personaly would just prefer getting the protective vinyls removed, then myself polishing the car. Although the car should be clean & spotless after protective covers are removed, why do the deaerships insist on giving it a bit off a polish ? I'm about to receive my new car & do not know whether to request no cleaning or just leave it & see. I have witnessed my dealership cleaning approved used cars with brushes.. Probably the dealership would insist on polishing the car, god know's why ? What are your opinions ? Thanks in advace. |

If you want your car done properly get a 'new car detail' from a professional who knows what they're doing.

I think i will mention it to the salesman when i go in a few days earlier to complete the paperwork.
I intend to get the car paint protected with my pro detailer, but will get it a bit dirty first, although on second thoughts, may get it done right away. |

I let the dealer prep mine and they did introduce some light swirls into the paint. It didn't take much to correct it but I have seen pictures of cars much much worse from dealers new car prep.

Just let dealership know that i politely request no washing or polish to be applied during PDI.
He came back to me to say that they woudln't be responsible for any marks that are on the car, that's why it gets detailed. They have never had a request like that before. On the phone right away to reply, i know there shouldn't be any marks on the car, unless they were done during delivery, which hopefully there are none. Also possibly most of their custom is from companies or people that have no idea or possibly care on how the cars get cleaned up. Possible residue from removing the protective vinyls is what i would expect. Car provisionally booked in with my detailer. We will have to wait & see. |

They might employ casual labour to wash them with a sponge that's never been cleaned and has been dropped on the floor countless times, they might wipe expensive (to you) SupaGuard on with a J-cloth then wipe it off with a supermarket duster, they might even touch up the paint a bit... but they don't get anywhere close to what a professional detailer would do (for not that much money either)

Yes totally agree, the last time a dealer touched my car was the last. They left marks all over the car, was not happy.
Had a detail done and it was gleaming with no marks, all you need is a new car detail and should only be around £200 for around 4/6 hours work. |

Told him something similar along those lines, he seemed to get a bit huffy. Bloody car salespersons. |
