Fuel Flap popping open

Hi

Has anyone else experienced this? Driving home the other day I noticed that the fuel flap had popped open. Only to the first stage where it isn't flat to the body.

Strange

Yup same here. It sometimes pops partially open when unlocking the vehicle.

Thats strange. I'd have to imagine that the latch isn't working properly, because the flap locks with the doors. The spring must be overpowering the latch, so that when the doors are unlocked, it pushes it out.

I think I may have solved this..... (Maybe)

I think if someone brushes past the car or pushes the flap slightly while the car is locked, when you then unlock it, it will pop out.

Have a try and let me know!

Fuel Flap open

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I just had my follow up appointment with the BMW dealership I purchased my 2015 3GT through, and told them about this problem. We were actually able to get the problem to repeat itself when I stood outside the car and hit the lock and unlock button a few times. When I go to pick up my license plates, I am having the service department take a look. I think there may be some sort of a short or defect if it is happening to so many of us. Even the BMW rep at the dealership told me that it should not be happening.

I had this happen last night. Nobody was near the car, so its not caused by brushing it. Car is going in tomorrow for rattle fixes, so they can work on this too.

ok so it hasnt happened to me personally but i have seen two f30s and one f82 m3 on my commute to work these past couple months driving with that fuel flap open. I wanted to somehow tell them it was open but it wasnt feasible while driving down the highway. I guess it happens more commonly than i thought.
