It's hard to describe, it is not the whistle noise that other people have. If I push my hand on the window, the noise is gone. Maybe something wrong with the window seal?

Look at page 8, with the bad seal before and after.

Thanks. I just took a look at that corner of the driver's window. While it is closed, I can push the corner (top right from outside) of the window with slight force and it makes some noise. The list of problems to report to the dealer just grows...

Sounds like the TSB my dealer mentioned to me regarding my wind noise issues.

I just complained about it to the dealer, he checked and there are 2 known issues from BMW:
1) there are 2 plastic hooks in each side of the front glass that should be replaced for some F30s built before 12-2012.
2) there can be a space in the drive side window near the mirror, BMW provides a measure stick to measure the space and make a decision if a repair is needed. My dealer opened a ticket and asked for the stick in order to check my car.

Can you please provide the TSB's associated with these two issues? I want to print out the paper and eat it in front of my dealer. Maybe that will make him more merciful.

They do not beleive you ???

The BMW shop manager showed me some documents sent officially by BMW on this manner, I will ask him to pass those to me if possible, and if he agreed I will post them here.

I said I have too much wind noise. They drove the car and "couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary". But if I have the TSB's means I can point to a specific area I want them to check it out, and not a general, subjective "excessive wind noise".

Think about it: if the guy who tested my car drives a Honda, no matter how noisy the 3 is it will still sound like a Lexus LS to him. Excessive wind noise is a very subjective thing, whereas a TSB is not.

Although my dealer (salesman) told me it was a TSB, I just spoke with the tech in charge of my car and he said it is in fact, not a TSB, but what they refer to as a PUMA measure. It is a database that apparently tracks common issues amongst the dealers, but has not yet become a TSB. The PUMA # they gave me is 51027151-02. Unfortunately, I do not believe this will fix mine as this refers to the two front windshield mouldings that run along the A-pillars. I have heard of these two strips causing noise, but the noise described from these seems different than the noise I'm experiencing, so my jubilation is certainly a bit deflated today. One never knows though, perhaps it is the cause of the B-pillar wind noise that I'm also experiencing. I'll keep you posted.

my SA advisor called and they said the noise they hear is nothing out of the normal on the car. Not sure how to even respond to that to him. To me it sounds like the air blower is on in the car at speeds of 30+ and gets louder. The loner they gave me which is a RAV 4 sounds very similar.

A BMW dealer gave u a RAV?

Regarding the noise, keep after them. At least my dealer acknowledges there is an issue. Whether fixable remains to be seen.

What a surprise. Like I said, if he drives a Honda, your 3 Series will be library quiet for him.
I got the same answer, you cannot really fight it unless you prove it with sound measurements.

And you should be happy with your RAV. My Audi SA adviser wanted to give me a Chevi Spark. When I start raising my voice, I ended up with an Audi Prestige :d

Wow, I'm lucky that they gave me an X1 then. Much quieter than my 3.

This should be the ultimate proof: an SUV quieter than a sedan?

BTW, i had a 2007 G35 for the weekend. Road noise: about the same, maybe a bit quieter. Wind noise: much quieter. B-pillar cars passing noise: almost non existent.

No kidding! Actually, I really like the X1. Feels a whole lot like my E90. It not only has less wind noise than my F30, it has less road noise. In hindsight, I think I would have gone with a loaded X1 rather than the 328 and kept the difference in $ in my pocket.

Can someone tell BMWNA there's a thread of 11 pages about wind noise in their $50k car?

Around 17 pages actually if you are merging the two threads.

Yeah with 200 miles on it. The dealer actually owns a Toyota, Infiniti, and 3-4 other car dealers. I was actually glad. I drove to my parents and let them try it. They were looking into buying a RAV. Not anymore. They didn't care for it at all. The BMW had more leg room.

Dealer took it for a test drive again told me that the noise is normal for this car. I have another dealer in my area that I am going to take it to and have it checked out.

I'm sure the 17 pages irepresents such a small percentage of the owners, that it is of no concern to BMW. And I'm sure some people either don't care or don't notice the wind noise. I'm not sure how they couldn't, but just the way it is. Any noises in a vehicle drives me nuts while my wife will drive around with marbles rolling around in the dash and not ever notice it. It's like the so many owners that say they have no wind noise at all. I would love to drive their cars to see if that is true.

My dealer is replacing the front windshield moulding and door seals and making adjustments so at least I know they are attempting to fix the issue. However, as stated before, I'm not overly optimistic there is a fix for the problem. I hope I'm wrong, but I believe it is an inherent design problem and something we will be stuck with.

With all the vehicle testing that takes place today including wind tunnel testing, I can't understand why this is an issue in 2013. I can understand allowing some road noise into the cabin to give road feel and feedback, but what benefit does intrusive wind noise have other than to say "hey, I bought a poorly designed/built $50,000 automobile because I'm one stupid cluck!"

Spoke with my service tech today. So far, they replaced windshield a-pillar mouldings and door seals. They taped the doors completely shut and tried it. No improvements noted. Still working away on it, but I'm losing optimism that it is fixable. The odd thing is that he says himself that he has driven other 3's that have NO wind noise so it's a bit of a mystery. At least they are good to deal with and not just brushing it off. They have had the car two weeks now trying to diagnose it. i have already told them if it is not fixable, I will be selling it and changing brands after having 4 BMW products.
