Checking for fault codes
Quick question... A few months back I was able to code a few things... mirror folding, side markers, etc... not a whole lot. Recently I experienced a loss of power while driving home. I found this threat that mentions a possible problem for my case http://www.f30post.com/forums/showth...7#post13929107
Is there any way for me to check if there's any engine or electrical fault code logs using E-Sys or any other way? Any help will be much appreciated.

1) Launch C:\EDIABAS\Bin\TOOL32.EXE 2) Hit F3 3) Load C:\EDIABAS\Ecu\F01.PRG 4) In the "Select Job: F01" window, select FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL 5) Hit F5 6) "Results" window should show "JOB_STATUS = OKAY" Hopefully, Problem Solved. Note: fs_lesen_funktional only read fault codes, FS_LOESCHEN_FUNKTIONAL will delete it.

I might turn it off next time I code the car because there's nothing worse than having the ability to set options for hardware that just doesn't exist in your car.

I've been a little too loosey-goosey about my coding and now the payment is coming due.
I've been very happily coding my car with Esys 3.18.3 and PSdZData 48.2 -- the car is a 2012 F30. I've been coding along without keeping track of what I've set. Now, the car is coming up on its first service interval and I am sure the dealer will update it so that I have to upgrade to a later Esys and PSdZData (and I will get my own personal "PM sent" reply from shawnsheridan when I ask for the new files and contact info for the seller of the Esys token). My question is: can anyone suggest a technique I might try to save the changes I've made, as compared to the base files, so that I can reconstruct what I did when I start with a new, updated level of software in the car? (I promise to keep a personal cheat sheet next time, which is what I should've done from the beginning. )

One thing you definitely don't want to do is to take one of your existing .ncd files and apply it to a newly updated ECU. There is a very high likelihood that the FDL layout has changed and pushing an old .ncd file will change settings you don't want to change and/or completely mess up your ECU. I've seen that there is a CAFD comparison utility floating around on the other forums, but it's of no practical use to me because it requires decrypted CAFD files and I have not seen any tool out there to do that. |

Either of you can link me to this CAFD file? Last edited by kromix; 05-04-2013 at 12:23 AM.. |

49.3 CAFD's though cannot be added to 49.1. Full 49.3 is needed. PM sent.

SPORT +
Yes ICMQL 3000 IcmKod_B_Sportlenkung nicht_verbaut verbaut Enables SPORT+ mode (You'll get an error about RPA after coding. Restart car and it goes away) Additional coding required to get the FDS menu complete will come in a later update. What does this part mean? Is it worth coding this?? |

Hey guys! I got it working and coded some stuff today (All thanks to Shawnsheridan, you rock!)
I just wanted to share this piece of information incase if someone is having a hard time establishing an ethernet connection. I was using my work laptop and the ethernet controller was set to static IP. I tried & tried for an hour and it I couldn't connect to the car. Go to Control Panel > Networks and Internet > Network Connections. Right click on your ethernet controller & click Properties. Make sure "Obtain IP Address Automatically" is selected. |

Figured the above out, it enables Sport+ as an option.
Hey side question, is it just me or is it so hard to remove the coding cable from the car by hand I have to use pliers to rip it out with force??? is there an easy disconnect method I'm missing?? |
