I sure hope so because a SA build would totally suck.
Go into your BMW page that has your production number. Right click on the webpage and do view page source. It should bring up the HTML code for the page. Then do a search for VIN. You will see something that will say something like
dnTrackBmw_VIN_7 value =

That would be the last 7 of your vin.

Thanks! That totally worked. I wonder why they don't just give that to you right on the site..

Anyhow, it looks like bmwvin.com is borked at the moment, so I fired off an email to them.

Anyone know of a working alternative to decode a VIN in the meantime?

What is the letter of your last 7? That tells where it is from. BMWVIN can take a week or two to show up with the full vin.

Mine was an F

Anyhow, I just ordered a 2013 F30 M Sport EB2 last Thursday, 3/21. It went into production the next morning. Original completion date was scheduled for 4/4, but today got bumped up to 4/3.

I'm hoping this will buy me enough time to get on the K Line Cosco Nagoya which leaves 4/10 for the west coast. Fingers crossed that I'm apart of the class of April 2013!
welcome to the class indeed!!!

I don't mind doing it myself, just would like an answer in a timely manner. When I get the car and everything goes smoothly then I will just be happy

Seems like I post this 1x a week so here goes:

two url's everyone who orders a BMW should have:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=680467

You will probably sit in "Order Documented" for 2-4 days and generally speaking from the time you hit status 150 (Production Started), expect about 7-9 working days for the car to "complete" production, from there, the other black hole of "your car has been assigned to logistic's carrier" starts - typically it is anywhere from 2-5 days to hit the port from manufacturing in Munich, in most cases you miss the boat that is already in port and have to wait until the following Tues/Wed for the next boat to leave (for vehicles bound to NY). If you know what port your car is coming into, go you can go to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics site (ocean carrier and is different from the plant to port company ) and search by port, see the exit date from Beemer Heaven (Bremerhaven) and arrival date into your nearest port - add anywhere from 1-7 days from port to dealer, a day at the dealer and magically some grueling 8 weeks later (for Munich builds), you have a nice new car and forget all the BS of ordering/BMW screwing with you.

The above 2 sites have great/detailed info and spelled out much better than the Cliff notes above. If your car is being manufactured SA, ahhhh, well... make that 10-12 weeks later and you have a nice new car. Also, the website lags about 24-48 hours over the 800# which itself is off by 12-18 hours. If you call it, best to do so after 3pm EST as the munich computers update +/- 3 hours from 3pm EST (from my experiences). Good luck and don't get frustrated... besides you are in great company with all of us overly anxious past/present/future orderers.

Woo ! Just called the 800 number and its currently in the body shop with an estimated completion date of 4/2. Bumped up from 4/3.

BMW site still shows 'Order Documented' with a completely different car....Ordered EBII RWD 335 - Site shows black 335 X-Drive

Nice. The later the delivery the better the weather will get. Just as long as the snow is over in our neck of the woods!
