Not for the fun aspect because it sounds like you can care less about that, but the carbon composite build up that happens every 5-10k miles on the valves, cylinder heads, etc. Redlining helps kick off that dirt and I request that you do it more often.

I have heard of this before and in fact I redlined this morning! My kid in the back seat asked why I was going so fast. I told her I needed to clean the engine. LOL!
