I am not a fan... There is just something very odd looking about this.

It seems whenever there's a thread about the Gran Coupe, there are always people questioning it's existence. It's getting old.

Why should it bother anyone that BMW has "far too many models"? If you don't like it just ignore those models you don't like. It's that simple. I don't see more choices as being a bad thing.

I actually prefer the looks of this over the regular F30 sedan. However, the fact that it weighs more than the F30 and no manual box are deal killers. That's fine. I don't ask why it should exist. I just scratch it off the list.

The one thing I don't like is that the rear door profile line doesn't run continuous to the famous Hofmeister kink! I love this gorgeous continuous geometry on the F30 as well as the 6GC. In my mind this is a styling blunder!

I actually like the 4GC's rendition of this area - to my eye, it blends the rear half of the car together really nicely. To me, the F30 looks like 4 distinct boxes: hood, door, door, trunk.

Interesting way to make a comparison F32 looks better than the F36 I agree, but how many people would be cross-shopping a 2-door with a 5-door?

Therefore F30 vs F36:

Gran Coupe is a clear winner to me. It almost looks like the next generation F30

What 6GC has over 5 series is the luxury interior, on par with 7 series... My only complaint about the 4GC is that it shares same plastic interior with the 3 series, which is effectively same as 1 series.

I would still rock this car for the liftgate and frame-less doors. Drop it on a set of 20's Vossens and you are rockin!

Based in looks alone: F32 > F30 > F36. I don't know how you guys think the trunk of the F36 looks good. It looks like they ran out of room for the trunk and made it several inches shorter than it should be. This is why I love the 6GC and was hoping for a baby 6GC, but the rear of this 4GC looks terrible.

Lots of people complaining about the lack of a manual. If there was a business case for a manual, they would have made the 6MT available. There wasn't, so there isn't. (complaining on a forum does not make a business case)

So you picked a 4GT?

Agree 100%

It almost looks like they took styling cues from an SUV.

If BMW would have taken the inspiration from their M6 Gran Coupe and not from the A5 sportback as they admit, it would have been one great looking car. As it is, it looks worse than any other car in the BMW line-up except the 1-series hatchback which takes the prize. Oh, I forgot the 5-series GT and 3-series GT. Those almost induce vomiting.

[/QUOTE] Coupe is a clear winner to me.

Of course, it is the original form. The grancoupe is a compromise, designwise too.

I wouldnt hesitate between a 6 or a 6GC too designwise ( i would pick the coupe ) but I know a lot of people dont think that way.

The only original grancoupe is the mercedes CLS.

I haven't seen the 4GC in the flesh, but I have yet to regret this.

Hatch would come in handy once in a while if I didn't want to take the wife's X5 to Home Depot or wanted the car for a short trip instead of the truck.

It's just too bad they executed the look so poorly. I keep saying the same thing every time we see more picks, they should've stretched it like the 6GC and the trunk line is too high.

I'll have to see it in person before I make my final conclusion, but based on the gif chylld posted, I would definitely take it over the F30. Now what I really like about the F36 is that you can spec it with Ivory leather. I'm not sure why they haven't added that option to the F32.

I can see how the 4GC looks sportier compared to 3er.
However with extra 60kg/140lbs heavier compared to the sedan, BMW is missing something here.
It all comes down to looks and impressions these days.
In reality running on same tires and equipped with same packages GC will be a bit slower in acceleration.
That brings us to having a sedan faster than the more expensive coupe. I know that 0-60 times are not everything, but this is just ain't right.

Don't really see the need for it. It's nice, but not something I'd consider, especially since there's no MT option.
