Sounds to me its the door seal rubbing against each other. I had the same problem and took mine into dealer to replace the seals under warranty. Its been quite ever since.
You can also get some silicon spray and spray it on the seal, it will stop the rattling, queak, and crackling but once its dried up, noise will come back up. Good luck! |

Is it a rattle or a squeak?

Good luck locating the source! I also have some rattle on the passenger side, have not taken the time to locate it yet. It seems to be especially noticeable in the morning, after I leave the underground parking. The car is cold at that time, then it heats up during the day, and I do not hear any rattle when going back from work.

I know how the OP feels about this rattle since I too have an extremely annoying rattle from the same region of the car. I have also removed most of the dash, passenger door card, and assorted panels to find the rattle with no success. I then investigated the windshield washer fluid reservoir by removing the right front wheel and fender liner. Once I tapped on the reservoir, I knew right away that was the source of the rattle. I applied some rubber padding around the reservoir which finally fixed the rattle!
I'm taking my car to the dealer next week to have them provide a permanent solution to this annoying rattle. |

Not sure if this applies to your model, but on my 2012 335i there was a TSB related to an AC coolant tube or pipe of some kind. It runs down left side of the engine (left when seated in the car), into the firewall, and then toward the right. Apparently they attach a slightly larger damping weight to it in order to prevent vibration. Because of the interaction with the firewall it sounds like the rattle is coming from inside the vehicle. Might be worth checking if you end up taking it in to the dealer.

Have you placed your finger on the door lock pin? Mine rattled and annoyed me to death, but a very easy solution to fix...
Insulation Tape around the pin, and its GONE!! |

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I checked and removed the locking pin and also read about the TSB on the driver side AC lines. I need to check out the windshield washer res. I hope that's it.

FOUND IT!!!!! Hell yeah. It was the washer fluid reservoir. That rattling bastard. All fixed and I didn't have to go to the dealership who probably made matters worse. Thanks a million for the recommendation to check the reservoir.

They didn't do anything. Didn't take it to the dealership. I tightened the only screw a could get to and added rubber padding to both sides of the reservoir. Nice and rattle free.

Congrats... I am a self professed professional rattle chaser, and the rattle I have in my 435i ( sounds like it's coming from the center of the dash) is still a mystery to me.

I was unable to take any pictures since the dealer fixed it but here is a copy of the work order:
Thankfully the rattle is fixed and the dealer didn't create any new rattles. I especially like the wording of "placed foam to strategic locations" |

I have one but it seems like its my passenger side air vent, whenever i have someone put their hand on it the rattle goes away.
