M Performance exhaust rattle at low revs
Anyone seen this issue? Installed right after delivery and had this issue ever since. Curious to know what could be causing it, checked heat shields and exhaust hangars, not rattling against that. Possible manufacturing issue? Its a 335i M Performance Exhaust fitted to a 328i.
Thanks in advance

hey i remember reading a post a while back about people with 328s with rattling exhausts. In the post he has a video of the thing rattling at idle i believe. Im sure a search will pull up that post. I think he ended up getting the middle part of his exhaust replaced at the dealer.

That could be the pipe not being fixed enough. I have the old style tips on my 335i MPE, the ones that were spot welded, and when it was new one of the pipes sounded similar to this. Put 3 more spots on it and it got silent. So, it might be that the end pipe isnt 100% fixated.

God that sounds heroine, almost sounds like something internal like a baffle or something is loose. I'm not an exhaust expert by any means tho. Hope you get it resolved cause I'd love to hear some good videos of the 335 MPE on a 328

The exhaust is not approved in Australia. I bought it from a well known BMW mod shop and got it installed. Showed the video to the shop and they agreed to get it replaced.

335 MPE on a 328? I want to try that because of the split rear exhaust. how does it sound compared to the 328mpe? Is this recommended? what's the difference between the two?
thanks |

I HAD a video. key word is had... but, I can only say DO IT! itīs perfect and much better than any other option cause you still have the flap which helps reduce the sound when needed, cause when itīs open it will be a bit too loud for anyone sitting in the back (got wife and kids and only put transmission in sport when theyīre not in, and that way I can fully enjoy the sweet sound). At least in the Touring, perhaps the sedan is better damped because of the body difference..
