Anyone running a sport tune on an AH3? Thoughts?

My review of Dinantronics Sport

I bought this unit for my 2013 335i. I noticed the power difference right away on the 3 psi setting. For me the power is only really noticeable on the low end of the curve. I don't notice much of a difference on the top end. The torque gain is noticeable though.

Just bought this for my 2014 335i msport. Will give my impressions in about 3-5 days. Also ordered the AFE Drop in air filter, and the afe scoop. Was going to probably go bigger later on with new inter-cooler, ect ect but will give these low end mods a try and then dyno it all at our next dyno day. I can get a stock baseline since these are so easily removable so I will see if I can do a baseline then see if anything happens with the filter/scoop, and then toss on the dinan to see what happens.

EDIT: I had a question about the AFE scoop and filter.. Does airflow really add anything when your turbo can suck all the air it needs? Anyhow, I got them anyway. They were cheap ($130 for both).

OK... Just installed it... That app is kooky... It's really laggy. I will step on the gas and it wont register on the app for about a second after, not to mention the app has no idea how to work properly.

It goes from -50psi or something weird (after I zeroed out, which now that isn't working either, even after restarting iphone). After it goes -50psi it goes around and around like 5 times when I step on the gas (as if I am 400psi or something crazy).

And now when I try to zero it out it keeps saying I need to turn off my engine, but keep ignition on even when the engine is off and my ignition is on..

Is there anything I am doing wrong with this app? You can see the stock/sport/sport+/race and after pressing them they do say +1/3 psi. Do I have to keep doing the app every time I get in the car or will it keep the settings?

More importantly, what's your impression of the power output of the tune?

Don't know yet. I didn't know if the app was working right. I will try tomorrow on the way to work and report back.

Interesting. I didn't know the OBD-II plugin required the app to function.

I think the app is the only way to change the psi. If I can remember correctly I think it was in sport mode out of the box which was 2psi? Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

Anyway, we shall see tomorrow. I will set it at sport+ and speed around a bit and see how it feels.

On their website, it says it is set at (Sport+, 3psi) out of the box.

So, I drove it today.... I can't really tell much difference. I had set it in their 4psi then back to stock and I could kind of tell in the torque with low RPM, but my butt dyno doesn't really feel any difference.

I used to race my RSX-S (with Greddy turbo) and before I got the turbo I had a CAI/Exhaust/Hondata computer. It was pushing about 205 whp from the stock 175 whp or so, but I couldn't really tell a difference there either.. But when at the track my stock time was 15sec at 93 and after the mods it was 14.1 at 98mph so I knew my car was quicker. I would consistently hit 14.1-14.2 and before the upgrades I think my best was 14.8, but all the trap speeds were low 90s mph and after they were always 98-99 mph.. After the turbo wow... mid to high 12s with 113-115mph trap.

I assume this is probably the same. I don't feel it, but I do know it's quicker than stock. I also put in an AFE drop in air filter (33% more airflow supposedly, but not sure how much it matters when you have a turbo)

Haven't others also said it takes a day or two for the throttle and car to adapt to the boost (or is that an urban legend)?

Sounds like you should do some before/after 1/4 mile runs with the DINANTRONICS Sport. For science...

Perhaps the fault lies with your butt dyno.

My butt dyno sucks lol.. I am sure more boost = more HP so I am sure I have more WHP now than I did before.

When I had my RSX and put the Turbo on it the mod that mattered was the exhaust and high flow cat. After I got good air flow from the front to the back it was a new car. I do want to get a better exhaust but I am not sure if I want my car any louder than it is now.

I think this might be true.. Car acted totally different today. This is the third day I have driven it since the tune. Drove Thurs a bit, Friday and today. Was sick over the weekend so the car stayed indoors.

Pretty much kept up with a X6 50i but god dang that thing was a beast. Never knew they were so quick.. Then I got home and looked it up and thought "ahhhhhh". He pulled on me and would probably beat me by a car length or two on the 1/4 mile.

So you're saying it felt better/more noticeable today?

Installed mine today. Played with sport and sport+ modes. Felt a slight increase in Tq. Not gonna try race until I get a new charge pipe.

I got one a few days ago and installed it. Like others have said the iOS app sucks. I didn't have any confidence that it was actually switching modes and it's tough to tell with the "butt dyno" if it's doing anything. I hooked up an OBD dongle and I got inconclusive results. Should I see the boost gains from the DS the OBD boost gauge or are those readings falsely low due to the DS? Just trying to figure out if it's doing what it's supposed to or if I got a faulty DS.
