Mineral Gray M Sport: does the rear bumper come with just one gray color?

Hi guys,

Came across the option of ordering a 335i M sport and started to lean towards Mineral Gray. Question... Does the rear bumper which is usually gray actually match the Mineral gray? I also have read a lot of owners saying the M sport is a sudo M3. Will having an all gray bumper look more or less like the next M3? I just don't understand why BMW adds all these M badges. Overall the sport steering wheel, and bumper are unique on the 335i. But will it hold up once real m3 appears?

Can anyone post some clear Mineral Gray M Sport pics. There are some on the mineral gray thread but none really show casing the rear bumper up close...

Thanks again!

This is nothing close to an m3. The bunper should be mineral grey as well no?

Bumper will match color. But even though it's the M Sport line, it won't hold a candle to the real M3 once it comes out.

It's the same steering wheel with the M Sport package regardless of 328 or 335. The only difference with the rear bumper is the addition of an extra exhaust outlet. Also, the M Sport is by no means intended to be an "almost M3".

On a side note...it is spelled "pseudo", not sudo

I agree 100 percent. M3 is special.

I am more concerned with the gray matching the lower gray on the M sport.

HAHA, yes, sorry about that... I wasn't 100 percent awake when I typed this

I also meant M sport was a little more special than Sportline.

The M Sport does have some "special" things going for it. The most significant (IMO) being the upgraded brakes, at least from a performance perspective. The cosmetic bits are certainly very nice, and the EBII color is exclusive to that line as well. IRL that color is an absolute stunner for sure, and you won't get it on a Sport Line as of MY13. Otherwise they are dynamically quite similar - you really can't go wrong either way!

To answer OP's question, I do not believe the rear valence on the M Sport is Mineral Gray. There should still be contrast if you order a mineral gray car. Just speculating but why would BMW spend the money to match mineral gray on the bottom valence?

Thanks... is there any upclose pics from some Mineral Gray M Sport owners?

Hate to be picky, but what if it looks silly? Silver/gray looks decent...

Assuming you are talking about the rear 'diffuser' or the plastic trim that surrounds the exhaust tips and spans the width of the rear bumper, YES, it will be a slightly different color on M Sport versions. All US Spec M Sport trimmed 3 series come with a dark grey 'diffuser'. However on the MG Metallic paint it is very close in color, while on the lighter colored M Sport cars the contrast is readily apparent.

Technically all US Spec 3 series cars have body colored rear bumper skins. It's just the 'diffuser' that contrasts on the M Sport option, the rest of the bumper still matches the overall car color.

You can easily see this on any MG picture thread or the contrast is pretty obvious if you go to BMWUSA.com and build the car and look at the rear view.

There are pics of some on here, just check the official mineral gray color thread. The diffuser is a different shade and maybe tone of gray, but as far as I can tell from pics, not very drastic.

In photos the diffuser appears quite a different, darker shade of grey; in person, the difference is only very slight. I would prefer more contrast between the two, as it does practically blend in; but it's not really an issue!

Can't go wrong with MG, a really classy color.

And to address your concern, this is the best I can do. You barely notice the difference in real-life.

not bad!

I wonder if someone will post up close. But it seems like essentially mineral gray. I like it!
