I have had mine for 3 weeks now, just outside of return policy from ECS. I will be selling to get a JB4 stage 2 and DP for a bit more power and sound. Let me know if you're interested.

Got the car back....the good news is that BMW said there was no damage beyond the tire and slightly bent rim. Luckily the tire is still able to inflate and they were able to balance the wheel in spite of the damage.

Now for the bad news....something doesnt feel right about the car. I can hear and feel a vibration. Maybe its just the new tire but there is definitely a new sound. I can feel it through the gas pedal. The car drives ok aside from this. I am going to have to monitor it. I am worried that I damaged something else that BMW didnt catch. The rock I hit was really big so I would not be surprised if the suspension is messed up too.

More bad news...the 428 engine feels anemic compared to the 430. I simply can now no longer be satisfied with the N20 engine. I am going to take everyone's advice and get some sort of modest tune. Not sure about slapping on the 430 badge though

did they fix the slightly bent rim?

If not, that is where the vibration comes from. Get it fixed. Or better yet, buy new wheels

I was told BMW will not fix wheels, only sell me a new one for $600! I am not a wheel expert here...but if they were able to balance it would I still feel the vibration?

And yes, I am already plotting my next upgrade!

The OP is in California where only 91 octane is available.

Look for a local wheel repair shop... they're worth their weight in gold and can fix rims to a point where even you cannot notice that it was bent. Within reason of course.

Unless already done so, you should probably have your suspension realigned.

About a 430 badge on your 428... that's poser! Slap an M badge instead... that's ok to do

You can get it fixed from a 3rd party for about $100 if it is nothing too serious.

They might be able to balance it, it does not change the fact that it is bent.

But the vibration could come from balancing itself if it is not done correctly. Or the bent wheels. or it could come from my other places like wheel bearing and shocks (yes shocks).

If you want to know for sure. put on another set of wheels and see if the vibration goes away.

LOL..was kidding. Be cheap though and easy .

The tune will satisfy you. The Dinan Sport is a bargain. I had GSR do mine a year ago...been happy ever since. No issues whatsoever. It's mild...puts out 250hp/317tq. I might go see Matt again and have him ratchet it up a little more lol.

You can pick up a refurbished wheel for less than the $600. Maybe take it to a tire shop and have them rebalance it. You can watch it spin...it its steady and wiggle free, you probably have something else suspension wise that is hurt.....

The B48 has a good amount of power I think. Perhaps it might be a little fun in sport + but it's no B58. It's 8 more HP on paper but also more torque which can lead to .3 seconds off the 0-60 on the 328, so yes it is a noticeable power difference. I haven't driven the 328i for comparison, but it definitely is faster than the 320 which is barely adequate in my opinion for everyday driving, but it's no sports car. I think my loaner had some kind of sport exhaust, it sounded better than the 320 but still had the 4 cylinder sound when revving vs. the exhaust note of the B58
