Hi, i just put down a deposit on my 328i and over here we have no choice of German or South African delivery. I have being told by most local dealerships that the wait time is around 4 months at this point i.e. if an order was placed today the car would arrive at the end of Feb 2013!
I have a feeling that it will be a long wait but worthy wait.. |

I just ordered a 335i for PW45 in South Africa. I was told to expect delivery end of Jan or early Feb. (I got PW45 even though the order was entered a few days ago -- it's already code 150, production started.)

My update: boat has come and gone to Long Beach. Only problem now is the ordering system seems to expect it to be in Oxnard. Boat landed in LB on the 29th, but BMW dealer order tracking seems to say it will arrive in Oxnard/Port Hueneme on 11/5. After that dealer thinks it will be about 5 days. I'm stumped as to what's happening. If it just needs to make it to Oxnard from Long Beach, and it's going to take a week, that seems nuts. I guess the other options are either it doesn't need to go to Oxnard, or the boat it was on is wrong. Sigh.

F Letter - Munich?
Have 335i xDrive on order which I placed not that long ago. Production just ended and just learned the VIN's 11th digit is an "F." I'm hearing that's Munich, correct?

Production only takes a week so I think you would get it way before the end of January. Transit time from SA is roughly 45 days or so but I guess there are potential delays. |

There's no shortage of people on this thread complaining that it takes a lot longer than 45 days, but I guess we'll see. I certainly won't complain if it arrives much sooner.

It seems to me that taking 3 weeks to even start production is a long time but maybe this is normal for SA production?? Maybe some others can comment on this? |

My CA put in the order on 10/22 and production began on 10/23. Production completed on 11/02
Its been waiting the past 2 days "to be released to carrier".. Prior to that the status was "Your vehicle is being transported to the port of exit" I'm thinking that means its waiting at the port? |

I think your case should be normal. If you order a car it should go into production in a timely fashion not 3-4 weeks later barring unforseen circumstances. |

I am also having a hard-time understanding how are PW46 builds ordered just a few days ago already into production and we with earlier scheduled builds still waiting to go into production.

For some of them, my dealer sent me a screenshot of the order program showing them. For the boat dates, I was both tracking the boat on marinetraffic.com using it's name and found the boat's schedule. I was on the Genuine Ace, which is a Mitsu boat, so I went to http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx and was able to get the schedule for ports from there.

There was never or has there ever been a production date on my Retail Vehicle Inquiry report. I ordered 10/11 status 111, 10/18 status 112 and as of now, No idea. I've called my CA, BMWNA and nobody can give me a production date which is just disconcerting.

Can you upload the in vehicle inquiry report? I bet someone on these forums could provide some input as to what is really going on when they see it. |

Some get 112 status cars which can still be customized to some extent. Once status hits 112 some options cannot be changed. I do not have a list of those options, but its really somewhat hit and miss. You just try to change the option and hopefully the system accepts it. In this case some customers get a car with what they want and closer to production. And yes, in some cases these 112 status cars go status 150 the same or next day. Next step is 150 status. Once it hits 150, the order is locked. This is called Production begin. Everything from documentation to parts picking, etc. in preparation for the actual build. Status 151+ represents the actual assembly of the car. Keep in mind that there are cases where a customer requested option may delay a build due to parts shortage, production issues, etc. Here's a way to track your car from order to delivery: http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=680467 Hope this helps. |
