For fun,

my car's order exactly spec, would cost 62,000 euros in France
as opposed to the equivalent of 36,000 euros that i will be paying in the US...

it's mind booglinG ! I am getting my 335i for half of what French people would pay if they wanted the same one...
Man, my car is a blast, the steering, the suspension, the HK audio etc etc.
No regrets. It's a blast compared to the F10 535i elephant I had.

IRL it's just as fast or sometimes faster than the E90 M3 I had before the 535i. The sound is excellent, when lifting/off throttle it burbles almost like a 427 Cobra LOL . Etc etc.

But man, 36k euros....Mine did 72k euros....

Cheers
Robin

Due to differences in taxes etc., one must put into perspective wht prices BMW charges ex-works in different markets. For example, a 328i Sportline w/passive sport suspension & sport auto, would cost the following in the following markets:

Germany - USD58,820 (Eur44,225@1.33) (incl following additional options: metallic paint, leather, alu trim, 2 zone climate, storage pack, lights pkg, rain sensor, sunroof, memory seats, black panel, hi-fi spk, BT streaming+smartphone connect, ext.&int. dimming mirrors, xenon, front & rear PDC, alarm)

UK - USD50,177 (GBP31,558@1.59) (same options but basic model (i.e. SE spec) w/18" rim option)

USA - USD44,100 (incl lumbar support & comfort access)

Hong Kong - USD44,520 (HK$347,250@0.128)

From the above we can see BMW makes more profit (on paper) by selling in the German market than in USA.

Clarence thats hardly any price variance at all. We're talking about DOUBLE the price in Oz, not an extra 8,000 euros.

The point is BMW openly blame LCT for the price but in reality thats a lie. Its greed. How would you feel if they doubled the price of everything you buy?

Is there any way to obtain ex-works (i.e. pre-tax) price in Oz? Ex-works price difference between Germany & USA is USD18,000, that is a lot of money.
It seems the stronger the currency, the more raw the deal, & BMW is creaming the currency gain. As an example, the Japanese Yen is another currency which gained a lot in the past 3-4yrs when compared to Euro/USD (just like the Aussie), & a 328i Sport costs USD67,000 (5,580,952yen @82.35) ex-works. This means BMW can make 50% more revenue by selling the car in Japan than in USA.

Btw, all those prices are pre-tax prices, so for prices end-users pay in Germany & UK u'll have to add 20% VAT on top. For USA u have the state tax & for Hong Kong there's a First Registration Tax of abt 60%.
