Engine Oil service milage dropping fast

I purchased a CPO 2018 340i on Monday (March 18) with 7k miles. I was told that the oil had been changed that day, which would be a little early for the 10k miles recommended but figured they were being safe. When I left the dealership I noticed that the service reminder was saying that the next oil change should be done in 8000 or in March of 2020 which is the time that BMW says the oil should last.

I have driven the car for the past week putting on about 1,200 miles on it. The service reminder is now telling me I will need an oil change in 2,200 miles. I have given sport mode a try but I do not think that it should be efecting it that much. Any idea on what could be causing this? The oil check in the vehicle status is showing the oil is full.

Driving style and driving conditions will affect the mileage between services. I agree that does seem to be dropping super fast but I think it’s normal. I would change your oil ever 5000 miles unless BMW is changing it for free.

When you left the dealership it should have said 10,000 miles or March 2020. Something isn't right with how they did the reset.

Yeah, I thought the number was weird but didn't think much of it until the service reminder dropped so fast. Now the "Vehicle Profile" page on the BMW website is listing as everything needing maintenance.

Not sure how this information is reported to them but this has been an interesting start to this car so far.

With the mileage you have none of those would be due, so something is AFU for sure. Let the dealer straighten it out.
