And now for something completely different:
Importing audio from a USB memory stick. The manual doesn't explain this well. First off, you can't format your drive with NTFS (probably obvious), but it also doesn't accept exFAT, so don't try your 64 GB memory stick. I took a smaller capacity stick formatted with FAT32 as the manual recommends on page 206. I first tried to plug into the USB in the centre arm rest. From here it plays the music just fine, but you won't find an option to 'save to disk' like you have when you insert a CD. Under options, you will find 'import/export audio files', which is what I used. For that, you need to plug the memory stick into the USB port in the glove box. All files were imported under the folder name 'USB1'. They all play just fine and are searchable under iDrive. |

I'm not sure about this because when you plug an iPhone into the cradle it automatically disconnects bluetooth audio streaming. Just not sure if this also applies to a device connected via the USB cable. Thanks. |

+1 This is a great suggestion. I didn't get a y-cable included in the purchase of my Bimmer (maybe if I ask for one, the will the dealer will give me one for free ), and sometimes I forget to bring my apple cable so I gotta run back into the house to get it. So atleast with this option, the ipod will be inside all the time and ready for usage.

car won't let u lock it through comfort access if u left the key inside the cabin. u have to be careful coz u could lock it in the trunk if the car ir initially locked.

Car and tech is head and shoulders above the rest Mine is getting me round quickly, with handling and ride that is epic (class leading by some margin) and averaging 58mpg over 2000 miles! This is one EPIC car in terms of efficiency, gadgets and engineering.

in the mirror folding thread:
"Hi. Provided that you have the optional folding mirrors you can either: 1. Press the button on the armrest to manually fold them in. You will need to press it again when you want them to open or the car will do it for you once you exceed about 15/20 mph. 2. When you lock the car hold down the remote locking button for a few seconds and they will fold in. The difference here is that they will unfold automatically when you unlock the car (rather than you having to press the unfold button in the armrest). I don't think you can program them to fold in automatically on locking the vehicle, you have to keep the button depressed for a few seconds." is that available for US

one question about this. is the car smart enough to turn it off as to not kill the battery? i'm not sure how long fans would take to kill it but let's say i set it for 2:30pm. some days i get out of work later and might not have time to turn it off. will it keep running until i get in or will it shut off after a little?

When I lock the car I hold down the remote locking button for a few seconds and mirrors fold in. However windows stay open ? In my old E46 and E53 windows and sunroof would close automatically while keeping the lock button pressed. Why can't I close the windows from the key fob while locking ?
